“History and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

This hotel has a lot of history. Russian control Comission stayed there after WWII.
The hotel has hosted many many celebrities and heads of state from various countries.

It has one of the best locations in central of Helsinki. You are close to everything, still away from the heavy traffic and noice. Just couple of blocks away from Mannerheimintie, the main "artery" going thru Helsinki, and all the attractions of the city.

The train station and subway are near by, also the main bus terminal is near by, all within walking distance.

Shopping malls and department stores also easy to reach, within walking distance.

Nice pub downstais, there you can meet locals and international guests having a drink in the afternoon (some stay till serving end...)

My choice to stay in Helsinki, make your reservation well before and have a nice stay.

I was here for one night. I arrived from Australia very early in the morning, after a long flight, and wasn't sure if I could check in early. The women at the front desk were very nice and helpful, and they let me check in straight away, which was a big relief. Very central hotel, love the art deco style. Nice room, comfortable bed, big bathroom and shower. Breakfast was sumptuous. Also, ask the reception staff about the heated walk through the Forum Shopping Mall - I walked with my luggage on a cold, rainy day all the way from the Hotel to the Railway Station, where I caught the Finnair bus back to Vaata airport.

I have just been there for business. Exctelent design hotel, renovated in the 90s, I can't remember the archited, but all the details are very studied. Don't forget to visit the top floor bar where you will have an excelent viex of Helsinki, as well as the toilets of this bar, which are, at this day, the highest see-thru toilets I have ever seen.

The Torni is very centrally located and the rooms are super. The hotel has 3 bars the pick of which is the roof top one. The main bar is an "Irish" bar. I am not sure what Irish bar they modeled it on but it had a good atmosphere although we were thrown out at 2AM

Room Tip: Quieter and better views from a high room

This hotel is defintely my pick for Helsinki!!
The rooms are spectacular with amazing views, and the rooms are spotless and extremely tidy.
The staff are very helpful and friendly. The location of this hotel is fantastic!!
The bar on the 14th floor offer the best views of Helsinki and the bathrooms of the bar also offer great views of Helsinki.
If you ad to pick one hotel to stay at in Helsinki, make it this one!!

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room on the 7th floor or higher!!

Excellent location to see the city. I had the afternoon free after arriving by train from Turku around noon. 5 minute walk from the train station. They accommodated an early check in. The place is a landmark in Helsinki. I was told by a couple of people to go up to the bar on the 14 th floor as it is about the tallest building in Helsinki. Unfortunately I got busy doing other things and missed this. Rooms are not overly large, but recently remodeled and laid out well. Did not get to try breakfast but they have some small sandwiches available to those with an early checkout. Wifi worked well and was included in my rate.

This is a historic hotel with interest. A visit to the rooftop bar is a must.
We stayed 3 nights and had an older design room which was very attractive. We had access to a minibar but for some reason my sister and her partner did not. It was clean and comfortable, the room was compact. We were there late in season and our room was quiet enough but in summer I think it could be noisy. We were on the 3rd floor and there was a garden terrace area below which was not being used.
Thw breakfast buffet was good - selection of hot and cold items including pancakes, oatmeal, fishes, cheeses, sausage etc and fruit and yogurts.
We were able to walk to and from the station with our bags without too much trouble. It's close to lots of eateries and the large department store which has a deli on the ground floor.

Room Tip: I've no idea how you snag a tower room but be aware that there is only one small lift and that y...
