“Excellent Santa Trip.....Great Hotel x”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2011 via mobile

Booked with FIrst Choice, LApland package. Whole trip magical, hotel very central, breakfast great. Planned itinerary great, would have liked more time in Santa park, felt very rushed. Taster day great but freezing -20, you have the full winter kit on though. Gala dinner at manor house nice but tiny portions!! Santa arrived on his sleigh with reindeers....lovely!! Free wifi nice touch. Be warned drinks so expensive in town, 33 euro for house wine per bottle!!!! e7 for vodka then mixer extra!!, oj 4e!!.

We had a magical time in the snow, kids loved being pulled around on sleigh!!, provided by hotel!

Have fun!

Stayed in the sokos for a leisure visit to Helsinki for 3 nights. Check in was quick and easy. We booked a standard twin with shower. The rooms were big and very modern equipped with flat tv, hairdryer, iron, safe and minibar (expensive, use the shop just down the road). The bathroom was clean and bright with a nice walk in shower. Our room was on the 8th floor to the front of the hotel. There was some noise at night but nothing to stop you sleeping.

Breakfast is served in the French style breakfast downstairs. It has a large selection of continental items and more finish cooked items. I've heard it can be busy from 9-10 but it was dead when we stayed.

The location of the hotel is great and just round the corner from the main shopping streets and just down from senate sq.

There are 2 resteraunts in the hotel, one is a French styled and the other, Memphis, an American style. Memphis is nice in the evening and both food and service are great.

Check out was quick and easy and we were able to leave our luggage in a room until our evening flight.

Overall I would strongly recommend this hotel and would stay again.

I was there with my wife twice in october 2010. First time we were there for 3 nights and after for one night only.
The breakfast is really good. Great diversity of foods. Fruits, cereals, hot dishes, breads, eggs and more. The restaurant is clean as a good and respectful pleace to eat must be. The bedroom is, clean, clear and confortable.
We needed to left our luggage there for two days ans it was really safe when we returned. Confirming this way there is a safe place to left your luggage if you need.
The localization of the Sokos Helsinki is really good. Close to the port, metro and train station is really easy walk or ride aroud.

I had a single room on the eighth floor.
Bed OK-typical thin mattress on base with comforter. Bed filled space between wall/window and room divider and was pushed up against wall, so have to crawl on top of bed to draw curtain closed, only one side of bed access (OK for single), and had to place bedside table on opposite wall or against bed blocking passage--when entered room the small table was at the foot of the bed below the window.

Workdesk on other side of divider with flat screen TV mounted in opening in divider facing desk or can turn around to face window/foot of bed.
Built in clothes cabinet, minibar and safe.
Free wifi.
Tiny bathroom with no counter--had to place all toiletries at foot of tub alongside toilet. Hair dryer and iron/board in room.

Nice staff.

Breakfast buffet of cold meat/fish/cheese/breads/yogurt/fruit/cereral, hot porridge/eggs/meatballs. Full on weekday at 7am.

1 block walk to long tunnel to Metro station, about 5 blocks to main railway station/bus to airport,1-2 blocks to tram, so good public transport and walking location.

The Hotel has an enviable position in the city centre; infact it is a crosspiece of the “Aleksanterinkatu” (the main shopping street in Helsinki), near the departmentstore Stockmann, the Kauppatori and the Central Station. In front of the Hotel there are many restaurants (also a Mc Donald’s), shops and the tram stop. The area is very safe and quiet, even if the building in front of our room had a big fan that worked for all the night and so it was a little noisy. I and my husband stayed here for 4 night in August 2010 and we booked a double room on the hotel website; when we arrived at the hotel they gave us a beautiful room at the 8th floor with a great view on the cathedral! We had breakfast in the hotel: the food was good and with a fairly good choice. The room furniture was discreet, bathroom wasn’t too small with bathtube. Moreover the hotel has a free wifi connection for guests, with a different key access every day, and a business room with a computer and a printer. The nearest supermarket is near the centralstation (5 minutes on foot from the hotel), inside the Sokos Vaakuna centre (very good and cheep); an other supermarket is inside the Kamppi center (3 minutes far from Sokos Vaakuna centre).
Finally I really suggest this hotel to stay in Helsinki because of its position, the price (isn’t too expensive) and staff is very friendly.

I stayed at Sokos Helsinki for two nights during business trip. The room was nicely decorated, spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was fantastic - I was surprised by a number of transparent walls The location of the hotel is also excellent with a short distance away from anything in the city center.

All staff were extremely friendly and professional from the moment we arrived.

Sokos is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. I recommend it to anyone and hopefully will return someday.
