“City centre hotel, but ok close to city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

The hotel in the entrance area is dated and needs a good revamp, the room I had was a exec room a few euro extra and worth it, bed was good but singles.
Bathroom great power shower.
Staff in all areas seemed to want to help and serve the customers with a smile, the reception lady was a great example of how to run a reception...happy smiling face, informative, quick!
The restaurant was very good and when I asked for special diet they adapted the meal to ensure it was good.
It is expensive to eat in Finland but the steaks here is well worth the €'s
Car parking nearby... Mine was free overnight!

Room Tip: Pay the most you can afford to get the better rooms, the lower floors do look a bit tatty

Thank you very much for your feedback. As you said we are an old hotel and some of the premises need to be renovated but as you wrote we have different room categories and the cheapest ones are naturally the oldest ones. Our strenghts are definitely the location and staff. Warmly welcome to stay with us again!
Best regards

As other reviewers have mentioned this hotel is very close to the main bus and train station. The breakfast room is well appointed and a good selection is available. Very good value for the money (we paid around 83 euros a night). There can be some noise heard from other rooms and some street noise.

Stayed here in June for two nights.
This hotel is not a posh one but has everything you need.
Its location is fab close to the train and buses, easy to walk to the harbour and main shopping area's.
Good size rooms, reminded us of the 70's (the bed throws and chairs) :)
Shower was fab - good wet room.
kettle / tea / coffee in the room and a tv.
Breakfast was excellent too (the best out of all the other hotels we stayed at on this holiday).

Would definitely return to this hotel.

We caught the bus from the airport into the main square which was a lot cheaper than taking a taxi and very straight forward. Just ask the information desk in the hotel and they will direct you to the bus stop which is just outside the airport. We got off at the last stop which was right by the train station and just round the corner from the hotel. :)

This hotel is in an excellent location and you could not have had nicer and more polite staff. But don't believe the pictures. I don't know in which Hotel Arthur they were taken, but they were certainly not in my room! My room was bare bones - spacious enough with all the amenities - hair dryer, TV, excellent internet, good closet space, comfy beds (but remember we are in Europe so yes, smaller than typical - I did not mind). But my bathroom had definitely seen better days - the shower was mildewy - ugh! And as I said, the room was bare bones, certainly not at all like the pictures showed or what I expected. But clean, comfortable and tidy. Oh - the rooms tend to face the inner courtyard, which makes it very quiet for sleeping at night. Added plus - being downtown, but still being able to get a good night sleep.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the inner courtyard if you want a quiet night.

Thank you for your feedback. Nice to hear that you were satisfied. It is true, that as we are an old hotel some of the bathrooms are still very old and they are next on our renovating list. If you book standard room they are the oldest. There are also other categories, so to avoid the old bathrooms you can choose another room category.
Welcome to stay with us again!

I loved this hotel. It is in an excellent location. It is a 5 minutes walk from the central station, as well as numerous bars, restaurants and tourist sites (pier, marketplace, museuns). The breakfast was abundant, the rooms were clean and confortable. It's a very nice hotel, I loved!

I spent 4 nights here and I think its central location is what makes this hotel a good choice. It's a 5 minute walk from Helsinki's central bus station (this is where the cheapest airport transfer bus 615 arrives/departs from), as well as numerous bars, restaurants and tourist sites.

I had breakfast in the hotels restaurant where a wide range of continental/English style food is on offer in addition to fresh fruit. The bar offers a Happy Hour between 3pm and 6pm where you can get beer and wine at a reduced rate.

Rooms and common areas are in need of an upgrade as they seem very old with a Soviet type feel to them, however, they are clean.

We picked this hotel because it was the least expensive hotel that still offered all of the services of a hotel. Other hotels in this price range were a little more like a hostel, or were the 'self service' types of hotel. This hotel is just a few blocks from the train station, which makes it easy to get from the airport without needing a cab. The staff was really helpful with suggestions and advice on what to do. Rooms were spacious, with room for a crib for our toddler.
