“Excellent location, reasonable rates”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2011

I found this hotel to be in an excellent location right in the middle of Helsinki, 5 minutes from the railway station, 5 minutes from really nice pubs and clubs, and approx. 15-20 minutes on foot to the harbour area (market, ferries). Substantial breakfast, lovely dining room (great Scandinavian feel about it). When I visited in June, I had a brillian room on an upper floor, which felt more like a junior suite (spacious double room with table and chairs). I will definitely use this hotel again!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on an upper floor. If disagbled (as I am), ask for a disabled-friendly room.

This hotel is walking distance from the centre of Helsinki. The top floor rooms are being rennovated. The shower was new. But the rest of the hotel looks old and shabby. The reception area is small, even though the receptionists were always helpful. The breakfast is nothing special at all. But the worst of all were the lifts. These were very old and had the front door opened manually. Overall, I would not return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel in Helsinki if possible

Good location, ageing but certainly acceptable rooms. Breakfast good in quality and quantity.

The main issue is the charge for the Internet - should be free.

Tea/coffee should be provided.

Room Tip: Try different websites to get a cheaper deal.

The hotel is close to the train station and shopping. There is a tram service stop within a block which will take you to the market square in 10 minutes.
It was clean and fairly quiet...except for the garbage pick up early in the morning which was loud. We had a room overlooking the courtyard. There was construction there but they didn't start until 9 am which was good.
Breakfast was Ok for a couple of days, it was hot and fresh. We ate lunch there...it was not good.
Girls at the front desk were helpful, and somewhat knowlegable, but not overly so.

Room Tip: Avoid courtyard room near garbage bins.

Rooms are old, dirty, small, dark. Furniture is old, worn, dirty, and has missing parts. Colors don't match at all. No style, no nice feelings.

Basic and clean hotel almost in the centre of Helsinki. Quite small rooms but after all a one night stay requires nothing large. Have stayed there a couple of times in the past and the quality stays the same.

We had a huge room with sofa and two chairs, kettle etc. Somewhat dated and shabby appearance esp. in corridors. We loved the breakfasts.
