“wonderful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

This is the hotel to stay in if you want to be close to the City Centre. The rooms are spacious by European standards, the showers are great and it's close to the Esplanade.

Room Tip: we stayed on the 7th floor

3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

I stayed in Anna Hotel one night in late May 2012. It was a time of really lovely weather in Helsinki, which means keeping the windows open in Anna Hotel (no AC). I normally don't mind this, and there isn't a lot of street noise. However, the problem is that the sun comes up EARLY here, at about 5 am it was blazing in through the windows. When you have to leave the windows open for air, you cannot close the curtains....and it's difficult to sleep. So, bring a sleep mask if this kind of thing bothers you!
Overall, I liked Anna Hotel. I got a rate of 75 EUR on booking.com, which was for a single that included breakfast. A little high I thought, but apparently hotels were quite booked. Everything was clean and adequate. The bathroom is super tiny, not much bigger than an airplane toilet + a shower. I was a bit confused by the toilet seat cover which was springloaded and wouldn't stay up by itself...I would imagine this could create a coordination challenge for guys. ;-)
The breakfast was nice, good coffee (choice of filter or nespresso) and wide range of meat, fruit, breads, juice. The location is great, super close to the tram lines and only a 15 minute easy walk to the main train station or the port.
I might stay here again, though likely not for a business trip where I need to spend a lot of time in the room.

The room was small, but just what I needed. The staff was very friendly, and I really liked the location as I found it very close to a lot of tourist things I wanted to see. For the week I was there, it was the cheapest hotel I could find that was better than a hostel. There is breakfast in the morning with a wide selection. I would stay here again.

Ok hotel with excellent location. However just cannot beat the chain hotels in the city. Needs renovation already.

The hotel is well located and the staff is very helpful. The rooms are a bit small and the decoration looks from the 70s or 80s oddly mixed with a LCD TV. The breakfast is good, but ought to arrive early to find smoked salmon.

Hotel Anna is a bit worn down, but it was quiet and relatively clean, and it is located in a nice part of Helsinki, with antique shops, old book shops etc. I stayed two nights on the 5th floor, and it was more than ok. Will probably go there again.

The location is fine, near to museums etc. The rooms are quite small but were clean and tidy. Staff were ok, but nothing special. Breakfast could have been better, just cereal, breads, cold meats etc. It's cheap for Helsinki standards but pretty average overall.
