“An amazing hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

Me and my husband had a Family Superior Plus room and it was amaxing.
The room was clean and very beautiful, not like most of the hotelrooms.
Service was great, food was delicious and it was not that far away from the city center. We walked 10-15 minutes to the center.

Dear MartiinaG,
The title of your amazing review gives us extra energy, thank you. How wonderful to hear that you enjoyed staying in our Family Superior Plus room. You are right, interior design is not typical. It is story-based and called "spectacular". We are so glad to hear you found it beautiful. Hopefully we could be in the future your "home hotel" everytime you and your husband are travelling to Helsinki from Turku. That would delight us so much! You two are so warmly welcome!

Arrived at the Scandic Paasi Hotel via bus 615 from the Helsinki Airport which takes about 20-25 minutes travel. As you get off the 615, walk to the nearest intersection at McDonalds and turn right, you'll find it only a 2 minute walk to the hotel. Upon our early arrival, our rooms were naturally not ready due to the hour, and we were provided with complimentary coffee. The staff were both welcoming and very assisting. Over the road from the hotel is a very nice shopping complex for supermarket, coffee shops and a makeup department. When it became available, we found our luggage to be already placed into our rooms which are very clean and all operate on a theme environment. Breakfast, being included for our five day duration in stay was absolutely magnificent and could not be past. It was also easy to catch the tramcar into the city (about 10 minutes) All in all it was a great experience and well valued.

Stayed here for one night just the experience the newest hotel in Helsinki. The staff was super perky and the staff uniforms were also spot on for the hotel's design. We got "boxing" themed room, standard double. The room was spacious and there was also a small sitting area with a table and two chairs. The bathroom was also spacious and the shower was separated with glass doors. Breakfast was normal to scandinavian standards with warm and cold dishes. It was great that you could get -20% discount with Scandic card from two restaurants, Juttutupa and Graniittilinna, in addition to hotel's own restaurant. The hotel is in a quiet area so it was a really good night sleep. The Hakaniemi market place is only 2 minutes walk away and the city centre 10 minutes. There's a nice gym but no sauna or swimming pool for hotel guests.

I booked the standard room for 2 nights. I paid 85 euros per night, but I'd be happy to pay 110-120 euros. (I think rates depend on the date you stay at, I lucked out with my cheap price, but the following weekend was more than double the rate and I booked somewhere else.)

Take the local bus 615 from the airport, do not take the Finnair bus. Get off at Hakaniemi -- the buses have a digital sign in the front that tells you what's the next stop ahead, so it's easy to know when to get off. The ride is about 30 minutes once you get on the bus. Then you're a quick 2 minute walk from your hotel. Because it's so close to the airport bus, this place is perfect for a one or two night stay.

The breakfast buffet is generous. I was very pleased with the standard room which included a bathtub and a balcony. (I requested a bathtub.) The standard room is missing a desk to work, but they have thoughtfully put a laptop pillow tray, so if you're here for vacation and not working, you will be fine. The room was clean and modern. Wifi was fast enough to stream movies, and TV included about 5 channels in English (with movies!)

I liked the location because it was a 15 minute walk from downtown, but it also allowed me to explore north Helsinki and its parks and lakes more. If you like to walk, you can walk to a lot of places.

Negatives- a late checkout (after 12 pm costs 10 euros per hour). Wish they were flexible for checkout at 1 or 2 pm like many other hotels I've been to. The bath water was not hot enough for me. I like my water really hot, and it was just warm.

Dear HappyBelly,
Thank you for your positive review. The way you described how to travel from the airport by local bus 615 is written in a very caring and accurate way, it will certainly help other travellers a lot, thank you so much. You are right, our room prices varies according how lively city Helsinki is, and how many guests have already made their reservation and are travelling at that time. Please check our homepages every time you are planning to make a reservation, because we do offer seasonal prices that are according your personal wishes. It would be a huge pleasure for us to have you as our guest often. We hope to see you soon again at Scandic Paasi!

I thought it would report only positive evaluations but one little thing spoiled the experience . The day before departure, the hotel took our bathrobes apparently fearing that we can steal them . It's a shame . Now, in order about the hotel .
Location .
The hotel is in a great quiet location away from the center but for those who do not like to walk . Approximately 1,5 kilometers to the main places . But very quickly by subway or tram , which next to the hotel .

Lovely breakfasts , all fresh and tasty. The downside is that the hotel is not about decent places to eat and all the time you need to go to the downtown for dinner or buy food at the supermarket.
Room .
Great room , large about 45 square meters with a small kitchen (fridge , microwave and utensils ), dining table and sofa. The window opens very small and it's a little frustrating. Excellent cleaning , daily . The room is quiet and comfortable.
Reception .
Friendly staff with excellent English. Just professionals .
In general, the hotel is very like our family with one child . Some things could be better, but in general we do not upset .

Dear Alex_Lipovskiy,
Thank you so much for sharing your positive evaluations. One little thing that spoiled your experience is so very unfortunate and totally our mistake. Our team member who did cleaning and took bathrobes for laundry that day, forgot to bring you new and clean ones. Bathrobes are important detail of our superior plus rooms. Your story, feelings as a feedback will certainly help us to remember more deeply, how very important it is to check accurately, that all details or a room are in right places after cleaning. We truly hope you will accept our sincere apologies and forgive us our mistake. We are so sorry!

We booked this hotel after the reviews online, and certainly didn't regret it. Ok it is a little out of the main area, but we really liked that it meant that we could get away from the hussle and bussle and yet it wasn't far from it all. There is a supermarket just round the corner, so great if you want to buy little bits and bobs, and the metro is also nearby. We got the bus in from the airport and the metro to the hotel, but I noticed that one or two people said it was near the airport bus so it might be worth checking if you can get off before the end? On the return journey we booked a shared cab from the hotel at a reasonable price. We also ate at the adjoining restaurant which we thought was good value and seems to be used by the locals.

We found the reception staff to be very friendly and helpful going out of their way to print out maps, directions etc - really liked them. The breakfast staff were also very good, constantly clearing dishes and replenishing the food. Ten minutes before the end of breakfast a very smiley lady came round the tables warning that they were finishing in ten minutes and if we needed anything to get it before they finished. It was great as well the food was topped up right up to the end, no half empty dishes 15 minutes before they finished. Even as a vegetarian there was lots of choice, we thought the breakfast was excellent. The drinks dispenser was something to behold!

The only slight negative was that we choose to "save the environment and skip cleaning" which we took too mean using cleaning liquids etc, but it meant they didn't come into the room at all not even to empty the rubbish, I think that would have been nicer if they just came in to empty the rubbish and pull up the bed. The products in the bathroom were very nice. Would definately stay here again

Dear RayandSteve,
We feel so happy and think it is so great you found us. And by sharing your so friendly review you are giving us an important gift, helping other future readers to do hopefully the same found, thank you so much. How delightful to hear that you liked the location of the hotel and found our staff friendly and helpful. We would like to apologicy so much by confusing you with our newest environmental message and idea, which game up from our guests who regularly visits us for many nights in a row. They wished for an easy tool to communicate to us, that during a certain day or during the whole stay they would like us to skip our daily cleaning visit in their room. We are eco-labeled hotel and therefore we are using only eco-friendly cleaning liquids. We are also constantly looking for new ways of being part of eco-friendly world but most importantly we are trying to do our very best so that you would enjoy your stay and get beatiful memories to bring back home with you. During your next visit, which we are so much looking forward, we suggest kindly that let's not use that tool and instead let's do our daily cleaning for your room. Our best regards to you to London. Hope to meet you soon again!

We arrived for our three night stay on a very warm day in August, only to find that the air conditioning in our room was malfunctioning and the window did not open. After a couple attempts on the part of the staff to remedy the problem, we were settled in a different room, one with a balcony, for the rest of our stay. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.

The hotel is located away from the heart of the city, but an easy walk, and even easier tram ride, to any of the central sights. The immediate neighborhood includes a lively flea/farmers market, a park, and many restaurants and shops. Altogether a perfect setting! Our room was quiet at night.

The breakfast buffet was delicious and offered many different treats. The staff was friendly and helpful, spoke perfect English. I would gladly stay there again if I return to Helsinki.

Room Tip: We appreciated having a room with a balcony, rather than a room where the windows did not open.

Dear barbaracy247,
It was a huge pleasure for us to have you and your family as our guest. Thank you forgiving us the malfunctioning air contioning in your first room. We are so sorry about it. You are absolutely right, rooms with a private balcony are very nice and uniq especially during the Finnish summer time. We are so happy to be able to offer all together 43 rooms of 170 with a balcony. Your friendly comment: you would gladly stay with us again if return to Finland delights us so much. We truly hope you and your family would return some day. Our best regards to you to Washington!
