I have stayed at this hotel twice (08-2011 and 08-2012). During both visits we had standard rooms. For our last stay we booked a room with a double bed, and got a room with two single beds. After requesting a room change, we waited for 1,5 h and then we were shown to an extremely stuffy room - obviously a smoking room, although we specifically asked for a non-smoking room. The "double" bed was max. 140 cm wide - not a king-size bed.
The decor of both rooms that we visited was from the 70ies and 80ies, and the hotel would definitely benefit from a thorough refurbishment. Especially, the toilet-bathrooms were both quite hideous, i.e. dirty and cracking up. Warning: don't look anywhere underneath the shower, if you are of a sensitive kind.
Breakfast is quite standard, served in a big, noisy ball room. If you are lucky you can find a table. Service on the whole is faceless, all activities witness of negligence.
The hotel is favoured by Russian tourists. The only good thing is the central location, which is really great. And I guess the price-level is quite OK for the centre of Helsinki (115 euro/night on a weekend).

Thank you for your stay at Sokos Hotel Presidentti and this review. It's a shame that your visit did not meet all your expectations this time. Most of our rooms are twin bedded and all the double rooms are equipped with 160cm wide beds. We will pay attention to the issues you mentioned and our definite goal is to succeed better in our services into future.
