“Old-fashioned but nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2011

Presidentti is very conveniently located in the very centre of Helsinki. yet it's quiet and peaceful. The rooms are a bit old-fashioned. but their breakfast buffet is one of the best I've ever had. On the whole. a really nice place

Okay, I understand that I have high expectations, and that European standards are not entirely similar to American ideals. But not changing the sheets or cleaning the room for four days? Just dropping off additional towels? I can deal with the small beds, small rooms, and a bathroom so small you have to exit just to change your mind (!), but this was a bit ridiculous. For ~250 usd nightly, I expect more. Maybe free tickets to the show "Scandanavian Hunks" which was showing in the lounge last night would have changed my review (no, it wouldn't have-and how the hell do I explain that to the kids, when it's emblazoned inside the elevators?). To their credit, however, the desk staff was quite knowledgeable and helpful and spoke excellent English. My advice: skip Helsinki altogether and go spend the weekend in Tallinn.

It's perfectly located in the center of Helsinki, you can get there by walk from the harbour or the train station..rooms are normally good, staff is helpful and nice, everything is clean.
Free sauna in the morning and good breakfast in a big hall are a big plus, not really cheap, like anything in Finland

This is a quite good hotel, specially comparing prices for the equivalent hotels in Helsinki. The reason however being probably because of the fact that the rooms and specially the bathrooms are in great need of refurbishment. It's not that they are not ok the way they are but it's not what we expect these days, it was probably state of the art back in the 70's. I would say that if that was done they would get a proper 4-star rating.
The breakfast was a good buffet but unfortunately the breakfast buffet is not sized after the actual size of this massive hotel, meaning that literally to get a glass of juice or some slices of ham, you have x amount of minutes waiting...
This is however quite common everywhere so no big issue really but good to know if you have a schedule.
The hotel also have restaurant, bar, nightclu so if that's your cup of tea, then you'll be grand.
The staff at the check-in counter were really friendly and the same thing at check-out.
Finally the wi-fi that works everywhere in the hotel is really fast so thumbs up for that!

We chose this hotel for its location close to downtown, shopping areas, cafes. But the rooms were very small and tiny. Our luggage could not fit in. If it did we could not keep both our bags open. Staff were also ok. Not much service available. It had a great spa. I had had a nice finnish sauna. The breakfast buffet was very bad. However, a decent place for a short stay.

Huge hotel in the heart of Helsinki, 5 minutes walk from the central station. All shopping centers within walking distance. Kamppi - 150 m from hotel entrance. Each hotel guests receive a discount of 10% in the department store Sokos, however, is not the best city shopping center.
Decent breakfast, but in the early morning you may stand in a queue because of crowd in restaurant.
Surprised the bar in the lobby - there was no beer, only red wine.
Wi Fi Internet works confidently in the entire hotel.
At least 1 taxi is constantly on duty at the hotel, so there is no need to book. Excellent hotel, perhaps, just too big, not all people love when so many visitors is in the hotel.

We stayed here for a weekend and the location was optimal. Coulnd't be better (close to the railway station, the bus station was in the opposite building and shopping areas as well).

The rooms were very clean and had high speed internet for free. The rooms are quite minimalistic and quite modern.

The breakfast was very nice and we enjoyed having both typical breakfast dishes and local specialties.

We could not have been more pleased with our stay. We will absolutely stay here again the next time we visit Helsinki!
