“Good, clean Hotel in nice location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2009

The Crowne Plaza Helsinki is not as far from the good spots as one might think. With connection to the legendary 3T tram in front of the hotel, opposite the opera and just a brief walk from the olympic park, it is actually quite central for all the attractions in Helsinki. The rooms are quiet and clean, the spa area somewhat lackluster, but ok. Breakfast and overall quality of service is also ok, but nothing special in either way. WLAN, minibar and bathroom on the rooms are a charm.

All in all, you can't go wrong if you need a good homebase for a fair price.

not so bad location, though there are some closer to the nightlife downtown, decent rooms, though quite small.
Horrible smell in the lobby, coming from the restaurant, at each and every hour in the day. Good rates for week end.
Nice spa gym area

The room that I stayed in at the Crowne Plaza Hotel was quite big and had wireless internet access. The breakfast war good with a lot of different kinds of food. The hotel had a resturant, fitness center and a spa. Unfortunally, I didnt make use of this offer. However, my colleagues and I visited a nice resturant in the street behind the hotel named "Kuu". The resturant was really nice and worth a visit!
The hotel is situated 10 minutes in walking distance from the city center. On your walk to the city center you will pass some of the sightseeing attractions in Helsinki. If you are not able to walk the distance to the city center the busses and trams stops in front of the hotel.

Very nice hotel, just few stops by tram to the city centre.
We stayed in Club Floor level - rooms are clean, nice and very comfortable. We had a nice city view.
Breakfast is Crowne Plaza standard with local specialities.
I can recomend this hotel at all.

stayed here for 2 nights in June, room was fantastic, staff were so nice and helpful at all times and the location is perfect. The Finnair bus stops just on the other side of the hotel and you can easily walk to downtown and the trainstation. Would stay here again.

Overall the Crowne Plaza is a good hotel and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again (in a Club Room). The staff are friendly and efficient, the Ex Club room I had was large and very comfortable. The Club Lounge on the 9th floor is a good place to hide and they keep the refrigerator stocked with drinks. Don't expect much from the Club Lounge breakfast- pretty much cereal, toast and cheese but that's fine by me.

The hotel is showing it's age and is getting a bit frayed around the edges. Nothing glaring but the pile is wearing off the carpets and the brass-work is scuffing. The building itself is a monument to the 60's style concrete blocks that dominate Helsinki.

The restaurant is pretty good and the service is friendly but very slow. There are several other restaurants within short walking distance and I would recommend giving them a try. Exit the hotel from the rear entrance (straight through the lobby from the main doors) and down the street to your left on the opposite corner is a nice Finnish restaurant.

There is a small park across the road that runs along the water's edge- walking through there was a nice way to start my day.

The hotel gets quite a bit of street noise from both cars and trams. I was on the 6th floor facing a side street and I still had to sleep with earplugs.

The very best thing about this hotel is the gym. It is a fully kitted out members-only gym that hotel guests have access to. It has a huge bank of cardio machines as well as a wide selection of strength machines and free weights. I never made it to the pool but it looked great also.

A good, reasonably central Helsinki hotel.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel and can find nothing bad to say about it. Our room (it was a corner room at the end of a corridor) was the largest hotel room I have ever stayed at, with floor to ceiling windows offering a great view of Helsinki. Flat screen TV, Internet, mini bar, huge luxurious bathroom with heated floor, everything was amazing.

The only minor negative point, is that is slightly far from the centre. Having said that we walked it most of the times with no problem!
