The Crowne Plaza Helsinki isn't righ in the center but it is an acceptable distance away. The hotel is fairly nice and everything is clean. The concierge was extremely kind and did everything he could to find us a good restaurant, the rest of the staff was also quite nice.

I am writing this while still at the Crowne Plaza. We arrived to a very friendly staff, clean and spacious lobby, and clean and spacious room on the 7th floor, overlooking the street. The front desk and porter were very helpful in giving us maps and directions. The location is great, about a 10-15 min walk from the train station.

However, my only complaint is that housekeeping did not clean our room today. We are only here for two nights, so this is a big deal. We were out sightseeing all day, and wanted to arrive to a clean room. Our bed was not made, our garbage was still there, and our towels on the floor as we had left them. We called the reception immediately, who apologized.

The only thing they could do was to send the porter immediately, who gave us a free bottle of champagne and chocolates, and took our garbage and gave us clean towels. I suppose under the circumstances that is all they could have done, as housekeeping was already gone. I am very disappointed right now at the state of our room, but like I said, they did what they could to make it up to us.

The gym area looked nice and I would have loved to have gone to the pool or sauna, but with only two days we wanted to be outdoors more than in the hotel.

I would stay here again if I were able to get the same rate I did, which was 80 euros/night.

Stayed here for a month for work.

Pros:
- Relatively inexpensive compared to other Helsinki hotels -- you can get corporate rates as low as 99 Euros
- Hotel is connected to a fitness center, so you have access to the pool and sauna for free, gym equipment has a charge
- Large wine list by the glass -- hotel has quite a lot of traffic through it, so there are many wines by the glass and also some of the wines by the bottle are often sold by the glass
- In the vicinity are a video rental store where you can rent DVDs to play on the in-room DVD players and a quite good traditional Finnish restaurant, Kuu.

Cons
- Shampoos and lotions in the club rooms are cheap, Pierre Cardin branded products, which have an awful smell.
- Even worse are the shampoos and lotions in the regular rooms, which are on par with whats available in a holiday in or motel
- Breakfast and Hors D'ouerves in the Club Lounge are MINIMAL... Downstairs breakfast is marginally better
- The hotel tries to be chic with very bold colors: red carpeting, black wall, dark wood finish, but it just appears cheap.
- Lumpy synthetic pillows
- Taxis between 8AM-10AM are impossible to reserve. You must que during the peak periods and can wait for up to 30 minutes
- Vegetarian and non-meat dishes at the restaurant are very limited

Quality hotel, about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Helsinki.

I've stayed at the Crowne Plaza about five times in past few months.

Attentive staff, up to date decor, comfortable rooms, and easy to get a taxt from outside the hotel (not always to be taken for granted in Helsinki). The hotel also has a beautiful pool, which looks very modern and seems to be very quiet during most mornings.

The only negative point I can mention is the extortionate mini-bar prices..they makes some 5* hotels look reasonable. For example, a small chocolate bar will set you back €4+..I guess they have to pay for that pool some how!
