The esplanade is a small parkway in the heart of Helsinki. It begins from the south harbour and ends at the Swedish Theater, situated where the Mannerheimintie street begins.
There are plenty of fashion and designer shops, cafes and restaurants about, and on a sunny summer day it's great for having a picnic in the park. However, there are roads busy with traffic on both sides of the park, and crossings where cars also pass, so if cars annoy you, you'd be better off going to, for example, the Sinebrychoff park where the traffic noise isn't that obvious. Being in the city centre, though, it's pretty hard to avoid noise altogether.
There are many attractions nearby, such as the Uspensk Cathedral and Market Square in the harbour and the Senate Square (and Lutheran Cathedral at the square), and many more at a walking distance, so headquartering at the Esplanade might just be a wise choice.
