“Traditional Hotel with Good Size Rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

We were upgraded (I think) to a superior twin room, which was large and comfortable - except for the beds which were like planks.

The bar is enjoyable and the general ambience (as the Germans say) gemütlich.

Perfectly located in downtown Helsinki to experience the shopping and atmosphere. Great stay, Great place on a pedestrian boulevard with fantastic "in house" restaurants. Business or vacation definitely worth the stay. The little floaty ducks in the bath are a great touch.

Helsinki is such a gem of a city, its small and easy to get to know. At this time of year a visit out to the World Heritage island in the harbour is a delight as we watched a group of children perform a Xmas play about the Three Kings and had a lovely walk around. But even though there was no snow there was a biting wind, so remember to wrap up. The hotel had been renovated wonderfully, the staff were charming and breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Had the choice of free wifi or a free drink each day

This is possibly my favourite hotel The location is excellent and I love the duck in the bath. Look out for the "secret"entrance/exit through the good cupboard and into the store in the shopping centre!

Room Tip: All rooms are a good size.

I'm a 20 year vet of business travel, and to be honest, most hotels are a blur of tasteful niceness. Kamp stands out for its breakfasts: fishy feasts of smoked sardines, dense scandi breads, Jurassic sized salmon and some kind of red thing. Absolutely brilliant, a breakfast to set you up for a day's Viking marauding. The place is cosy and bright, essential if you're here in winter. Tuck in!

We had a deluxe room which was extremely spacious and comfortable. Excellent really. Bathroom great and the shower was (for a change) easily worked. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is within walking distance of all city attractions. It is also close enough to walk too (with luggage) from the train station if you get the train from the airport.

The breakfasts, overall, were superb. If you can get a table near the walkway (behind glass so the passing traffic doesn't interfere) it is a bonus. The array of breakfast food was vast.

However, every hotel seems to have one "however". On the final day we had breakfast the matre de told us to find a table. There was no cutlery on the table and a request to her for the cutlery was ignored. We eventually received assistance from another staff member who bought the cutlery and tea/ coffee. After that the breakfast went smoothly but for a hotel of the status of the Kamp this was an unfortunate incident.

Room Tip: Our room over looked the next door Galleria and while not having a great view it was very quiet.

I recently stayed here for 4 nights and had an enjoyable stay. Location is fantastic - central and close to many good shops, restaurants, and close to the harbour.
The staff are great - especially Reception and the person on the Bell Desk - nothing was too much trouble.
Restaurants and bar are also good - Yume was a stand out (I only decided to go there on my last night as I felt like a change from the local Finland food and wanted some Asian. As someone who has travelled though Asia extensively I was not sure what to expect - but was very pleased. As good as you get anywhere in Asia). The Bistro was also very good.
My only complaint would be the room location - facing a quadrangle rather than facing outside. It was not a great view and the room could be quite dark. In retrospect I would rather pay a little more and get an outward looking room.
All in all very good.

Room Tip: Get a room that faces the street - rather than the quadrangle at the rear
