“Good Value, Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2011

Smooth and easy check-in. Comfortable bed and classy room. Good location, walkable to everything I wanted to see and food/drink. Fancy TV control that seemed really slow. Certainly a good value. Didn't get to try the full breakfast as I checked out early before it started, but they did make sure I got some coffee and a pastry for the road.

Contemporary and stylish, the Fabian was a great choice for a four night stay in Helsinki. Centrally located and within easy walking of bars, restaurants, the water and other sites, the service and hospitality were consistently excellent. While the room was a bit quirky in layout, it was well appointed as outlined in other reviews. Staff were especially helpful in dealing with a range of requests and were informally professional in style - which is great! Breakfast is great.

Hotel Fabian is a quite new place, only a few minutes from Helsinki city centre, so very close to market place and Esplanadi. It is furbished very elegant and modern, rooms are of perfect size, light colours, very clean and comfortable, everything is there for your comfort. They have outstandingly good beds! Even though my room was next to the elevator it was absolutely quiet and the hotel was fully booked. Breakfast offers a nice choice of fresh things like fruits and salmon or cake. Very friendly service at the reception! So, this is first choice whenever I go back to Helsinki again!

If you are looking for an unexpensive hotel for Finland, with hi-tech room solutions and a friendly approach, this is your address.
Close to the center and the departures for ferries, next to the marina congress center, you can have good value for money.

The room was nicely decorated, all done in black and white. All the pictures had a zebra theme. The bathroom was very well equipped. The buffet breakfast was generous and the receptionist was friendly and helpful.
The location is good with the harbour round the corner, but the station is not that close. We needed a taxi.

Every once in a while a hotel comes along that is perfect! For us this applies to Hotel Fabian.
The rooms are interestingly designed and decorated- spacious (not huge but adequate) and comfortable with obvious attention to the needs of the guest- including free internet. Although we faced the courtyard, the window dressing made up for the drab view.Lighting is excellent and we loved the illuminated light switches- no fumbling around in the dark.
The shower was huge and the pressure perfect.( there was no bath which suited us perfectly). There are bathrobes and slippers- neatly folded in the cupboard instead of taking away valuable hanging space.
The breakfast buffet was sumptuous and seating was either indoors or outside in the courtyard. We loved the clever table mats- with maps of Helsinki and funny translations from Finnish to English.
There is a small lounge downstairs ( why do so few hotels have lounges today?), exquisitely furnished, with reading material and a bar menu.
Security throughout the hotel is first class with access only via card.
Tip: just a block up the hill is a lovely park with stunning views of the bay.
The Fabian hotel is just a short taxi ride from the station and an easy walk to the ferry to Tallinn. The area seems to be part of the business district but lots to see close by.

Room Tip: Try to get balcony. Were there views?

The Fabian is located about 3 blocks from the busiest area of downtown Helsinki. It's a quiet neighborhood, but near enough to the action.
We had an upscale elegantly furnished room on the ground floor with our own entrance off a courtyard. The room was a good size with a sleeping area separated by a partition. Each area had it's own large flat-screen TV. The beds were extremely comfortable and we each had our own comforter.
The large bathroom had a over-sized shower and was finished in marble. We also had a small kitchenette with a microwave, small sink, and undercounter refrigerator. (Pots and dishware as well).
Breakfast was a cold buffet, but there was good variety - yogurts, smoked salmon, and fresh fruits and breads.
The room was extremely quiet - no sounds from adjoining rooms or plumbing noises.
The desk personnel were extremely friendly and helpful as were all the staff.
