“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013 via mobile

This hotel is ideally situated and has it all. Great rooms, helpful staff and good value. The rooms are a good size, very modern with a nice bathroom. The bar is nice although we were not treated so well in there being told to move seats when another group arrived. Not important though. This is a great place to stay!

The haven hotel is an excellent choice when staying in Helsinki.

The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. The staff is courteous and professional and everything works as it should.

The choice of restaurants is one the hotels' best features (try the elk in the tavern, it is superb)

The bar is really cozy and has a great selection of wines by the glass.

A real treat!

Room Tip: The superior rooms are really nice.

Dear traveller973,

Thank you for your review of Hotel Haven.

A pleasure to hear that you had an excellent stay with us.

Our 3 restaurants in house offer a wide selection to suite all tastes and our G.W Sundmann’s restaurant has been selected as a Michelin Rising Star recently and has received excellent reviews not to mention it is located in one of Helsinki’s oldest buildings and is a charming place to enjoy a beautiful experience.

As Winter is coming to Helsinki, our Haven Bar gets cozier and cozier. The fire place area is a lovely place to enjoy a drink with loved ones or friends and colleagues.

We look forward to welcome you again to Hotel Haven.

We stayed for one night only and it was a great experience. The room is a good size with a tv in the bathroom (!). The highlight was the bar which has a great selection of whiskeys and good attentive service.

Dear Lotta S,

Thank you for writing your review regarding your stay with us.

We are pleased to hear that you had a great experience during your short stay with us. All our rooms have a TV system in the bathroom and we count that as a lovely touch to make your stay exquisite. Our Bar haven have a wide selection of whiskey’s and rum’s and most likely the best in Helsinki.
You can follow them on their Facebook page for updates for your future visit and they do make lovely whiskey’s and rums tastings. http://www.facebook.com/hotelhavenbar

We look forward to welcome you again to Hotel Haven.

Excellent luxurious, Sumptuous property but don't expect elaborate in size compared to Arts or Ritz properties. Property is perfect for pampering weekend get away and doesn't break the bank (caveat: its still Nordic so Nordic premium applies) Great Staff and Service like turn down every evening, whatever the thread count for those best beds/pillows. More importantly rooms are very spacious (got the view overlooking courtyard)

Excellent location - Helsinki Cathedral is 5-6 mins walk, next to the Esplande Park,USpenski Cathedral, Port departures are mainly for sight seeing and Suomenlinna. Tallinn departures from other port which is 10 mins cab ride away.

Train/Bus Terminal (currently Bus is the best way to City Centre from Helsinki Airport) is 10-15 mins walk. I believe T2 stop is next door. All I know is famous famous pub tram stops there :-) which should be must take ride

Room Tip: I had courtyard facing room which was good. Its Helsinki not much road traffic

Dear SKU1970,

Thank you for writing your review regarding your recent stay with us.

We are glad to read these lovely points mentioned and we hope you have enjoyed a goodnight sleep in our lovely beds. Our weekend promotional rate are surely competitive to the Nordic rates and surely won’t break the bank as you said.
We offer a daily turn down service and that makes a unique hotel in Helsinki that offers this service.

Our location is an excellent plus that we are proud of and the airport bus or Finnair bus is located 10 minutes walking from us or by tram ride directly near the hotel. The airport bus takes 30-35 minutes and also we offer excellent airport transfer if booked with our Reception with our limousine service.

We look forward to welcome you again to Hotel Haven.

We stayed here over last weekend. The location is great for Helsinki because you can get everywhere without a car. The hotel is by far not cheap and I was interested to see what it would be like (a member of Small Luxury Hotels if I am not mistaken). The arrival experience was great and the staff were excellent throughout our short stay. In my booking confirmation the room was described with (amongst other things):
- up to 31m² (I do not want to argue, but the Room 603 can not be anywhere near 30m²)
- comfortable king-size bed (actually, in our case 2 bed pushed together not 1 king-size)
- excellent desk for working (the narrow desk has flowers, a lamp and a flat-screenTV on it! There is no way one could work on it. Luckily I did not have to.)

The breakfast is great with lots to choose from.

The room (carpet for one) could be a bit cleaner and in better shape (one lamp was pretty clearly broken and an armchair [should not really be there because there is no room for it] felt like it would collapse any time).

The air-conditioning / heating is very loud if it is turned on. The hotel is not alone with this problem. I hardly ever find the noise level of air-conditioning acceptable.

All in all, the hotel is good ; luxury only on the first glance (lobby and lobby bar) if one does not look closer - not really on par with the price/quality.

Dear JCoolH,

Thank you for writing your review regarding your stay with us.

We are pleased that you detailed many points concerning your stay and we appreciate all the feedback me and my colleagues. Helsinki is a very compact city and we are extremely proud of the public transport system that our guests can enjoy as Trams, Buses, Metro are available very close from our location and even most of the sites and attractions are of walking distance. We are part of the Small Luxury Hotels Of The World and proudly been chosen as the SLH Hotel of the Year 2013 recently.

The room offered during your stay is a beautiful cozy room of our Style category. The size mentioned is a standard size for that room category. The beds differ by room and since there was no mention in your booking of a King size request the room was assigned with Twin beds unfortunately.

We have informed our Housekeeping department about your review and the necessary steps have been taken to solve the issues that you mentioned in the room. We sincerely apologize about these little mistakes that occurred during your stay and would have loved to hear from you, we would have surely tried our best to solve these slight problems.

Our prices are in an excellent range with what luxury hotels offer in Helsinki and we hope you contact us for future bookings directly at our Reception by email to info@hotelhaven.fi where we will offer you the best price for your stay.

We look forward to welcome you again to Hotel Haven.

Kind regards,

Jad Lian

Great, Boutique hotel. You feel a warmth when you enter. It's homely, cosy and warm. Decor is fab. Small bar, lounge area. Rooms are huge and comfortable. All the luxuries you would expect with a hotel of this class. Breakfast is lovely served in an intimate restaurant. Hotel has a couple of restaurants, looked great although didnt try. Perfect location too. Try the Italian Sasso opp the square for dinner or lunch, also Cafe Strindberg for an authentic Finnish meal and finally a great Asian restaurant called 'Yume'. Will def be returning.

The foyer to the hotel gives an intimate experience and reinforces the idea that you are in a boutique hotel. A very stylish lounge and bar are off the foyer. The hotel is close to all the tourist action. And our room has water glimpses.
The room is stylish and a bit quirky. The bathroom is also stylish.
Good restaurants attached to the hotel
