“Outstanding service!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014

We stayed in this hotel for one night and were blown away by the helpful staff of this hotel.

We arrived via the finair airport bus which dropped us at the train station. From there it was a 20 min walk to the hotel (there is probably a tram that goes there).

Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly face and were asked to choose between two room décors which were impressively rendered on an interactive touch screen at the reception. We chose the Renaissance room. We liked the room- average size with wet room bathroom. The television had lots of channels in English. It had ac that worked and a kettle. The staff answered all of our questions about transport and distances.

The location is close to the center about 10 min walk. There are two ferry ports located on opposite ends of town so if you are going to take a ferry to Tallinn like we did you may want to think about which port your ferry goes from. Tallink and eckoline goes from the one closest the hotel. The number 9 tram drops you in front of the harbor. I believe the other port has viking line and linda line.

Breakfast was included and had a good assortment of food.

Would go back to this hotel if could get the same great deal with the rate.

The hotel is just 10 min. walking distance away from the market square. The place is very quite, a lot of nice restaurants nearby. The hotel is absolutely wheelchair friendly, the room is fully equipped with all necessary for a guest in a wheelchair. The room is very cosy and spacious and can easily accommodate three people.

We were lucky enough to book the Rock and Rose -room designed by a Finnish rocker Remu Aaltonen. The room was to our liking with its dark tones, slightly tacky rock 'n roll theme and.... PINBALL! Got to admit, the pinball takes an hour or two as it is so cool but then again, that is why the room was booked in the first place ;)

The hotel has a good location - only a 10-minute walk away from the best shopping spots (Stockmann, Kamppi, Forum) and restaurants. A tram-stop is literally a minute away from the hotel.

The breakfast was amazing - freshly squeezed orange-juice, fresh bread, good, dark coffee, nice atmosphere and excellent service.

The room is worth its price and the hotel worth a visit! There's a small food store across the street from the hotel.

Dear Elsa,

Thank you very much for your feedback regarding the Rock’n’Rose room and the Solo Sokos Hotel Aleksanteri. I will send your compliments the breakfast staff as well. The Rock’n’Rose room is also my personal favorite room in the hotel. Its uniqueness is what makes it so special and of course the pinball machine, the only room with a pinball machine in the…world?.By the way, what was your pinball record, did you make Elvis dance the twist?

We look forward to seeing you as our guest again in the near future.

Best regards,

In Helsinki there was extremely hot weather and the air conditioning was not working properly. Room temperature was someting like 25 degree celsius and it is impossble to open windows. In the morning we find out that there was also some kind of rubber sheet under the real sheet, When I asked about that from reception, answer was it supposed to help bed be more hygienic and they are trying to find way a to make it better to sleep. My opinion is that rubber sheet and not working aircon is not so convinient and pleasent way to sleep in good hotel when there is hot summer night, even in Helsinki.

I have stayed Aleksanteri couple of nights before and in winter time everything was nice and convenient. Staff has been exelent every time and breakfast is one of the best in Helsinki hotels.

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for your feedback regarding the Solo Sokos Hotel Aleksanteri. I will forward your nice compliments to the staff. Our maintenance fixed the momentarily issue with the air-con the next day. It has worked well these past hot summer weeks. The thin under-covers under the linens are designed to keep the mattress dry and clean are used for customer comfort and convenience. We hope to see you as our guest again in the future.

Best regards,

I have vsited this hotel a couple of time and have to say it is a good choice for anyone traveling to Helsinkin. The hotel is quite new with an OK restaurant downstairs. It has very nice quality rooms. The normal ones are a bit small but bed is very nice, the business rooms are very spacy even big. All and all good Sokos Hotels quality (This is a Finnish 4 star hotel chain). Also the location is good, just a small walk from the Helsinki city center area. The car park is not so big beside the Hotel. There is no carage.

Room Tip: Business rooms are very big.

The service was friendly, the room romantic and large enough, and the bathroom well-equipped. The internet connection worked smoothly and, finally, the breakfast was awesome. The thing I liked least was that the location: the hotel is a bit far away from the railway station and airline buss stops.

I have stayed here for a couple of times during business trips in Helsinki. The hotel is located a few blocks from the center of Helsinki. The rooms are good and modern and the breakfast is tasty. Do not have too high hopes of the marketed "gym" since it is only one small room.
