“Feel at home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

This is an excellent hotel with kitchenette. The rooms are very good, I preferred the 35m2 rooms very spacious with required furniture. The hotel is a 15 minutes walk from a big shopping mall and transport options. so its very convenient. all the rooms have big windows and french doors, so there is no worry about air or light. The place is very calm and so, even if you keep the windows open, you wont hear a noise.

They have options to check-out late (than noon) this will be handy for travellers, if their flight is in late evening. But i guess this depends on availability.

Its my second time and I am staying here for two weeks and it is very good.

There aren't any room service option, but its worth the money.

they have provided enough plates, cups and tumblers, but the no of vessel is one :( Especially if you try to cook it will be one downside. else its super cool.

My second time in this particular hotel for business trip. As said earlier, the garden side rooms are better and if you can get one, take one. It's much quieter and cooler. I was on garden side last time, this time I got the parking lot. Damn hot, even with windows open, night temp in room was more than +30. Barely could sleep. Traffic noises from the open window did not help either.

So I'll avoid this during summertime. Other than that, it's nice place to stay. Staff is friendly, but as mentioned in other reviews, perhaps not very service horiented as in other Hotels I've visited. Near Leppävaara bus/train hub, so it's very good location and prices are cheap.

I would class this more as a motel than a hotel. The service does in my opinion not meet hotel standards. If you do not come with any high expectations then this will be a good stay. Though if you are looking for a bit extra, then you might get disappointed.

Pro's:
- Free parking
- Affordable price (I got a pretty good deal through hotels.com)
- Basic cooking possibilities
- Larger room than a same priced hotel room
- Sauna in the room (only in the bigger rooms)
- Quite area
- Free wifi

Con's:
- No cleaning during your stay. You even have to do your dishes before checking out!!
- Missing hand soap in the toilet (not sure if it was supposed to be included?!)
- Almost need a car to use this hotel or willing to walk a few km.
- Average breakfast (the eggs was like they were cooked the day before and just reheated)
- The smell in the hallways reminded me of a rest home for the elderly

We had 2 rooms, one on the garden side and one on the parking lot side. For summertime, the garden side is better for view, peace, and cool room. The parking lot side quickly warms up and smells of smoke when people gather after breakfast, making it a little uncomfortable at times for a nonsmoker. The rooms are spacious and have nice kitchens for small meals, and especially nice is the refrigerator and hot pot. Bathrooms are small, as in all Euro hotels, but beds were doubles with plenty of space. Breakfast is the same every day, so it gets a little boring after 7 days, but there's protein for us meat eaters, and there are nice walking trails nearby for after breakfast. Also nearby is Sello, a shopping mall with restaurants, bars, liquor store and grocery. Very convenient. If you have a car or need a train, all pathways are easy to access. Staff is very friendly and very helpful. Housekeeping is not meticulous, and they will not do your dishes, so be sure you ask for extra towels and toilet paper :)

Room Tip: Select garden side if you like it cool (summertime), but note that birds will chirp in the morning...

I spent two nights at this hotel, which is in reality small appartments in a huge Building complex. It is a nice place, since you have a fully equipped Apartment for app. 140 euros. But the location is not nice, it does requuire that you have access to a car otherwise you're lost. Nothing is happening in that area. NOTHING.
Nice clean and quite place. The breakfast is a bit strage in a nearby restaurant.

Room Tip: Stay away from the roadside of the hotel.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

I stayed at the Hellsten on a business trip for 2 nights in June, and it was a nice experience. The hotel is extremely clean and comfortable. It is not overly luxurious, in fact, the room I was in did not have air conditioning, it had heating, but in summer, I would have preferred to have AC.

There was a kitchenette in the room, with a microwave, stove, etc including utensils, this is great for people who want to cook a meal themselves or heat up left overs from meals in restaurants, I did not use any of this.

There is an attached restaurant Huivi which is quite good. Breakfast is served there, and there were a couple of options for a vegetarian like me too!

The location itself is a bit off, its in a sleepy suburban area, very calm and pleasant, but if you need anything, you need to walk 1.5km or so to downtown Espoo near the Sello mall. I did not use public transport, so for me, this was no problem.

Overall, its a good hotel to stay in, especially if in a larger group or for a longer stay, and especially for those who want to do a bit of cooking themselves, with the option of eating at the restaurant when needed.

We stayed in Hellsten Espoo for two nights in May. We had a small suite. It was clean, with a small kitchen and all the utensils.

It had a nice lobby and a parking lot. Location wise, It is far from down town helsinki, about 20 minutes by car, but it is not a problem if you have a car.

The staff were also nice and friendly.
There were some small issues that are good to be noticed:
The rooms by themselves do not have hairdryers. but you can ask for it from the reception.
The rooms also do not have soaps. But just small tubes of shower gels.

The breakfast buffet was too small, with not so many options.. you can live with it.. but It could be much better..

All and all it was a pleasant stay...but you shouldn't expect a fancy hotel.
