“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

Mikés hotel is in a fantastic location: its right on the water in Aegiali in the middle of all the restaurants and cafes in Aegiali. Our room had a balcony overlooking the dock with the fishing boats. Our room was simple, clean, and efficient. The beds were comfortable. Although the location is central, the room was very quite. We slept well every night. The breakfast buffet is good value for money.

The owner was very friendly and helpful. He was also very honest: We booked the hotel in March for 3 nights at the end of June. At the time of the booking, we agreed to the price mentioned on bookings.com. However, when we checked out, the owner told us that they are currently having a promo if you stay 3 nights. And since we stayed 3 nights, he said we’re entitled to the promo.

Our stay at this hotel was not so long but even this we have much time to feel like home. This hotel is great, located just in the port, so from ferry You have 1 minute to get there. Owner is a very friendly guy who alway will help You. Rooms are clean and has everything You need. You can sit on a balcony at relax and enjoy of view of Aegiali and see.

We stayed 5 nights in rooftop units 9 & 10 (my wife and I in 10 and my sister in 9) and we had the best time. Theo was the perfect host. Breakfast each morning was great and so was the coffee. The rooms were cleaned daily and very comfy. Great sunsets and the best view in Aegiali. We hired a car from the boys at Evdokia's car and bike hire just around the corner and went exploring Amorgos, But the bus stops just out the front also. Watch out for mad goats if driving ! Basically, you get off the ferry at Aegiali, walk to the first building (Mike's) unpack and relax. . . Its that simple. The hotel's cat is also very affectionate and don't miss going to the monastery - must see

Room Tip: They are all good, 9&10 are our pick

We stayed at the Hotel Mike for nearly a week in June. Its location is ideal - right in the heart of the village of Aegiali with balcony overlooking the port and fishing boats and with beach view, yet the double glazing effectively cuts out all noise at night should there be any (to be fair, only on the Saturday night of our stay was there really any noise to be cut out as it was early in the season.) The hotel was not yet fully opened for the season (e.g. the bar etc was still closed) but this was not a problem as there were many more within a mins walk, offering everything from breakfast to cocktails in very comfortable surroundings and with a stunning view of the bay. The owner, Theo, was always extremely helpful and full of advice on local travel and restaurants. He insisted we borrow his laptop and also gave us some delicious honey (from his own bees) to take home. The room was kept spotless. Efficient, cheap buses run around the island enabling exploration, and there are also a number of relatively easy walks along with some more challenging ones, although when we were there it was really too hot for us for the latter. The old village of Chora is well worth visiting - very sleepy and full of flowers, although we were told that in July/August it is much busier. We thought overall that Aegiali (and its surrounding villages and smaller beaches, as well as the main one) was nicer than Katapola.

Room Tip: Ask for a harbour view. The rooms on the top floor seem to have large roof terraces, possibly worth...

The hotel location is perfect : right on the port (not a big one, more a fishermen one) in the center of Aigiali. All rooms have a balcony with a direct view on the port and on the amazing sunset on the sea !!! The best ones is definitely the #9 and #10 which have a rooftop terrace !!!
The big positive Point goes to Theodoros, the hotel's boss who makes your vacations better with his happyness. We arrived after a hard boat trip and we forgot everything after arriving at Mike Hotel. My personal advice would be to follow all Theodoros'advices who's (I bet on it!) the coolest guy on the Island !

Amorgos! The island of big blue!
It wasn’t the first time that we, my husband and I, visited this dreamy island. But it was the first time that we stayed at this hotel, just a few minutes from the port of Aegiali. If you have already been on Amorgos, you know that there you are close to everything: the beautiful sandy beach, the markets, tavernas, café-bars, pharmacy etc.
The hotel had recomented a friend from Athens. As we arrived we were welcomed warmly at the reception. Everything we had read at the website was true: the beautiful view at the sea (the sunset from the balcony was magical to watch and if you can, don’t miss even one sunrise…), the hotel and room facilities… There was a refrigerator, a safe, an A/C, hair dryer, a small appliance against mosquitos… But the most amazing of all was that we could borrow-not hire!- a lap-top computer from the reception and we could use it as much as we needed, as there is internet access in all rooms!
Although the rooms and the balcony are not very big, they are pretty, as they were recently renovated. The room was very clean too, as the cleaning lady took care of it every day.
I have to tell you about the breakfast, that costs 7 euros p.P. I thought it would be a typical or poor continental breakfast. Not at all!!! We could order anything we wanted from the café-bar catalogue that has a big variety (coffees, toasts, fresh juices, homemade sweets, corn-flakes, yoghurt…) We could eat anything we wanted and we could order again and again –all in the price of 7 euros! But the most surprising was the time of the breakfast. We usually have to wake up early in order to catch the breakfast. But in Miké hotel we could have breakfast until 14:00! So we could stay at the beach until late and we didn’t have to eat lunch.
I strongly recommend you to stay at Hotel Mike if you visit this beautiful unspoiled island, It will only make your holidays better!!!
