For a first-time diner in Muikkuravintola Sampo, there's one must: you should order Vendace (muikku in Finnish) prepared one way or other. The restaurant has a long history and is well known for easy-going, somewhat bohemian (but clean) atmosphere. Vendace is, should we say, a national food for Savo region. If you don't like fish, you can do as I did the previous time: I ordered a grill dish. The meal was simple and tasty. Service has always been cosy and friendly. This place is sometimes full of guests, so I recommend an advance reservation for a group.
