“Great business hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2014

Been staying there several times a year for the last few years. Always a professional welcome, rooms are up to date and the Sky Bar is great for evening gatherings. Breakfast is very relaxed (none of the usual checking your room number as if you might be a passing stranger blagging a free meal!),
They have a variey of meeting rooms as well.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms at the back of the hotel if you like to sleep with the window open, can be noisy early i...

Dear TonyOxon,

Thank you for writing a review of your stay with us,

I am pleased to read that you are happy with the service and enjoy staying with us.

During the summer months, we have carried out refurbishments in the hotel and this includes a new gym onsite and a new panoramic window in the Skybar & Restaurant!

On behalf of the Riverton team, we hope to welcome you back soon to see the new additions and exciting changes taken place,

Best regards,
Philippa Hellberg

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2014 via mobile

Have stayed at the Riverton several times on business over the years, but in recent times they seem to have improved things considerably. The revamped reception area is very spacious and welcoming and the staff friendly. Had a comfortable twin room which was spotlessly clean and that includes the wet room which is very stylish. The large multi-channel TV and the welcoming nip of whisky and bottled water is a very welcoming. The breakfast buffet is excellent and one of the best I have come across in Gothenburg. However on the down side the hotel doesn't have air con in the rooms which in August is not pleasant. While they do supply a fan in the room, this doesn't make up for the window which bearly opens which is fine at any other time of the year in Sweden except summer. Thus the reason this hotel gets very good instead of excellent is simply because of the lack of aircon which makes it too hot in summer, it is excellent in every other way.

Dear TheBish,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay at Hotel Riverton. I am pleased to read that you were happy with your room and the facilities we offer.

We understand that the great weather we have had may impact the room temperatures, but we are currently planning for a project to use district cooling and heating in our rooms as a greener alternative to A/C. Part of the ground work carried out by the City Council, outside of the hotel also includes the installation of this new technique, so as soon as this become available to us, we will start carrying out this project throughout the hotel. Hopefully we will have it installed by next summer.

Thanks again for your generous review and we hope to welcome you back to Gothenburg soon!

Best wishes,
Philippa Hellberg

We only stayed for a night, with our kids of 7 and 10. The hotel is central (only around the corner from the main pedestrian shopping area and 15 minutes walk to the Opera house and Maritiman museum - highly appreciated by our children), nicely decorated, with a convenient parking just in front and, although there are some repair works to the road outside, there was practically no disruption for us at all.
All the reception staff was efficient and friendly, many thanks to Sabina for smoothing things up. The breakfast normal and quick, what we did expect.
We must definitely mention the bar on top - with great views over the city and a most perfect Margerita!
Our kids loved a lot the playing area near the reception, extensive and diverse for a hotel.

My boyfriend and I spent six days in Gothenburg and we booked a Superior Double room at Hotel Riverton. I can write lots of positive things about the hotel, the staff was absolutely nice, the breakfast was delicious and it was varied. The room itself was very clean and nicely equipped (hair-dryer, iron, iron-board, TV, we also had free wi-fi) and every day we had two bottles of mineral water free. The bed was very comfortable and big. We only had a small problem, but we were able to handle it: the surrounding streets are being renovated and the workers started the construction work pretty early in the morning, but if we closed the window, we barely hear a noise. I recommend the hotel for tourists who want to stay in a hotel closely situated to the centre and almost to everything, like buses, trams restaurants supermarkets, sights.

We had booked a twin room, but our beds were so close to each other that the room was practically a double room. It wasn't possible to push the beds apart, which was a disappointment. The room was cramped, and it was strangely difficult to find the main door of the hotel when entering the hotel for the first time. The breakfast was very good, and the location was quite OK. The overall look of the hotel was quite weary.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

Had planned to stay for 3 nights but left after 2. I know it was middle of summer, but with temperatures less than 30c, it seem that the heat rises through the building during the day to upper floors and Sky bar.
Staff were good and helpful, but no refund for night we cancelled, even with 24 hours notice, as we had not booked directly with them.
Sky bar was full of children playing around until at least 10pm.
Seems to be more family/children orientated hotel.
Due to roads works in the area, we have great difficulty finding the entrance to the hotel by car. GPS was no help and we ended up carrying our suite cases down 4 flights of stairs from back entrance. Due to road works, Parking was also difficult to find and hotel stated we need to reserve free places when booking.
Would not recommnend staying there in summer

Room Tip: Lower floors maybe?

Dear BrendanO,

I am sorry to hear that your stay with us was not what you expected.

As you noticed during your stay, Gothenburg City Council is currently transforming our area in a project to bring the city closer to the water. Unfortunately, this may impact parking in the area for guests. We do offer secure parking but we do recommend reserving a space when making your reservation due to a high demand and limited spaces.

We understand that the great weather we´ve had may impact the room temperatures, but we are currently planning for a project to use district cooling and heating in our rooms as a greener alternative to A/C. Part of the ground work outside of the hotel also includes the installation of this new technique, so as soon as this become available to us by the City Council, we will start carrying out this project throughout the hotel.

I do hope that you will let us know next time you are in Gothenburg and give us another chance to restore your faith in the hotel.

Thanks again for sharing your feedback with others,

Best Regards,
Philippa Hellberg

Very good hotel and excellent service. I would return. Room very nice and modern and quiet - it was hot overnight as no aircon. Breakfast was excellent. Great location, easy walk to everything including old town and restaurants. Recommended
