“Fantastic location, but food is not on par”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

When your restaurant sits on one of the two or three best spots in the medieval centre of a town which praises itself for its history and charme (between other things) – don’t you have an obligation?
The location of the Tzatziki restaurant is priceless. In the historic quarter to the west of the river between the cathedral and the ancient water mill, in a converted cellar with a terrace overlooking the waterfall. Fantastic!
But they destroy it all with inconsistent service and bland food (to put it mildly), non- authentic non- inspiring, non- genuine Greek, and far far too salty. What a pity!

“Nice riverside location, average food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

The location of this restaurant is nice, just beside the river Fyrisån which runs through Uppsala.
There are many seats that have a riverside view so it is usually no problem to get a good table.

The food are somewhere between average and good, but this restaurant is still something i can recommend.

“Great location, below average food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

The location of the restaurant is great, By the river with pretty window boxes of flowers. Now I know I'm not in Greece but I didnt think you could screw up simple appetizers. The best thing was the tzatziki, shame about the non existent pita bread. I'm sorry but a paper thin flat bread doesn't cut it. When I think of fresh shrimp with tzatziki I imagine beautifully cooked shrimp on a plate with a couple of spoonfuls of tzatziki. I didn't imagine the equivalent of 4 pieces of deep fried shrimp in batter that I usually would get served in a thai restaurant with sweet chilli sauce, being stuck into a plate of tzatziki and called greek.

Next was the grilled haloumi cheese. Dry, rubbery, trust me don't bother. I have had this dish in a few countries outside Greece and this was the worst. The olive filo pastry could have been the saving grace, due to the pretty yummy filling, but I've never seen a greek pastry that greasy. The saving grace really was the tzatziki.

I had wanted to go here for dinner but was very glad I only stopped by for a snack with a cold drink on a warm summer's day. Given the experience, dinner will be eaten elsewhere.

“Beautiful location, average food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

The location of this restaurant is wonderful. It's located just beside the river that runs through the beautiful old university town of Uppsala. They have many tables by the river, which provides a lovely sound and a nice view, complete with ducks and ducklings. There are blankets and heaters outdoors, so you can eat outside even if it's a bit chilly. The inside of the restaurant is nice as well -- cozy, exotic, great for a winter dinner or a rainy evening when you don't want to be outdoors.
The food was only OK -- pretty salty, and nothing at all special, and the service was very slow. It took forever to get our bill, and when it arrived, it was the wrong bill -- for some other table. Prices are high, but not terrible, considering the location.

“Get me to the Greek!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2012

Our hotel receptionist recommended this restaurant as this was our first visit to Uppsala (indeed first time to Sweden) Having been warned of very high prices in Sweden my friend and I were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices especially given the very generous portions. Between us we had stuffed aubergine and squid both of which were very good. An excellent Swedish export lager for the equivalent of £5 for half a litre was also respectable value. Location is very nice - converted cellar with an outside terrace beside the river. Worth a visit
