“Believe the majority.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

The positive thing about trip advisor is that you can ascertain the worth of an establishment by the reviews. If 90% are excellent or very good, then ignore the 1% terrible. I have only been once to Cafe Cargo, but found it very good value in an excellent location. The couple that run it are most friendly, good to chat to and are ambitious in their newly acquired venture following impressive hotel management experience. Good luck Tom and Ombra.

“Always worth a visit.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

We regularly visit Cafe Cargo when we walk our Springer Spaniel along the canal bank. The meals and snacks are of good quality and the service is always friendly.

“Lovely little cafe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

I come here quite regularly with my grandma. I can’t fault the service and the location is lovely. I do think their cakes are expensive though – we once ordered a pot of tea and a piece of cherry cake which wasn’t much bigger than a 1” x 1” square, most disappointing. They tend to run out of a lot of things too, but that’s to be expected as it’s always busy. Worth a visit

“Worth a second visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

Went here on Saturday as my mother is going on a boat trip from here. Went into the cafe and had scone and coffee, very nice, extremely clean and has an extensive menu. we are proposing to go back for a 'meal' as everything we saw coming out of the kitchenlooked good. There is a room on the first floor (lift access) for functions and the function menus looked excellent and very fairly priced. Watch this space I will report back when we have had food.

“Very poor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

I have been to cafe cargo numerous times now and really can't understand why I keep wasting my time. It's a lovely venue in a great location with seating outside. This time we went and there was just one other table occupied, bearing in mind it was a Saturday afternoon they are clearly struggling for custom. We sat down whilst the member of staff stood there behind the counter staring into space. No where does it tell you where the menu's are or that you need to order at the counter. In the cake counter there was ONE piece of fruit cake left, quite shocking that on a weekend they haven't even bothered to bake! It was only 2pm. There was a function taking place upstairs so all we could hear was the sound of banging and crashing along with loud music, hardly the atmosphere we were looking for. This venue is desperate for good management, staff just do not have a clue what is going on. There is no reason why the staff can't come and take your order from the table, they should be welcoming you as you arrive and actually doing some work! I have been many times before when orders have been wrong, cups have been dirty, the service is just awful.
