“Regional cuisine - positive.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

This is one of the old not-so-charming Scandic Hotels. Positive things: Close to the nearby E18/E20 and free parking. Not so positive: Took very long to check in. I cannot see why this should be a problem.

Bar personell are old-timers that remebered me after several years not staying here. Wonder why? ;)

There has been a little positive change in the otherwise stereotype menu; the regional cuisine. In Örebro, this fall it is dear with juniper sauce and chantarelles. A perfect composition with generous slices of very tender dear meet. Liked it a lot, but couldn't eat it all.

As always with Scandic - on the expensive side and not always living up to expectations. But fully satisfied this time.

A decent hotel that is ideal if you’re travelling by car and is just passing through the town.

The hotel feels quite dated and not up to the standard that most Scandic hotels got. The corridor I was staying in even smelt a bit musty, but the room was ok, clean, and very large. But they should consider renovating the rooms because everything feels a bit old…

The one thing that was really impressive was the breakfast, as always in Scandic hotels it had everything I wanted and a lot more than that.

I’ve stayed in 5 hotels in Scandinavia in the last month this one was by far the worst.
Only one of the five (Hilton Slussen) was worth the price.
Again another old musty Motel that wants to charge top Dollar city prices. How Hotels get away with it is nonsense.
There was no laundry bag or list in the room , asked Reception. They didn’t have one or have any answer .
This is a first in 23years Business travel, they actually wanted me to bring my dirty clothes to reception and sort it out there , I didn’t dare ask what was meant but it sounded like tip it all on the counter and we’ll go thru it and make a list .
Unbelievable .

Room very musty , and light above bed didn’t annoyingly work bah!
Internet is free but drops out every Goddam minute drove me nuts!
Overall I’m so so glad to see the back of this place , and I thought the Scandic Grand in town was overpriced rubbish but this was worse.

Room Tip: go somewheres else

Stayed in this hotel for five nights during July/August. There a some positive things to say about this hotel. I stayed for a discounted prize of less that $100 (650 SEK to be precise). This made this hotel price worthy. The breakfast is really great and included in the price. On the other hand, there are some major drawbacks as well: no air conditioning in the room, some rooms are very noisy, either because the freeway that runs just outside or the McDonalds drive-through, also just outside (on the South side, open and noisy until 1 am).

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the west (= main entrance) side of the building.

Staff are very friendly and as always Scandic has an unrivaled breakfast selection, very pleased once again.

In need of refurbishment, it's old, worn and "sad". No ventilation what so ever in the room and bathroom. The bathroom had no shelf or anything to put things. Very small towels.
The food was ok, the staff nice and friendly. The breakfast was alright but a bit messy and at different "levels" the three mornings when we had breakfast. One day there was fruit salad, one day not, one day croissants, one day not, one day the eggs was as signed (soft boiled and so on...) one day not. Spoons missing, plates missing and so on and on... Breakfast only served until 10 am at w-ends.
Short of staff or lack of management?

Spent a night en route to a business meeting. A cheerful porter but the rest was not worth the money. The interiors are 1970's at best and and every corner is chipped. As we were on a tight schedule I needed to iron a shirt for the follow days meeting. No ironing board in the room and none to be ordered either. Instead a cheap (non-steam) iron and a board in a disused basement room was what was offered. The road just outside the window had traffic that offered two options. An open window of no sleep or a closed window and a hot and stuffy room (and no sleep). The shower spread water all over the bathroom and no bathmat! Why do hotels insist on these these "hangers" that can't be removed and hung elsewhere? So, some people steal them. Put your name on them and see them as a advertising space to be removed.
The "orange juice machine" in the restaurant was out of order in the morning and no juice available. Standard breakfast with mostly prepackaged items. Not the brightest place to wake up.

Room Tip: If you book a room far away from the elevators, be prepared for a very looong walk. Rooms towards t...
