“Charming, helpful innkeepers, spotless property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2011

Our family, parents and two children visited for two nights and had the most wonderful time. The sleeping rooms are small but carefully decorated. The beds were amazing - so comfortable! We were so happy that we signed up for dinner both evenings because the meals were exceptional. We used the inn's canoes on the adjacent lake and went swimming. We also used their bicycles, played their piano and guitar. There are several gorgeous large rooms that would be perfect for a conference or wedding. The gardens are beautiful and there are lots of places to sit and enjoy the peacefulness of this place. Most of all, we cannot give enough praise to Evalotta and Pier - the innkeepers. They were hands-on 24 hours a day but never too busy to help with directions or a ride to the train station.

This hotel is full of character and set in a picturesque Swedish hamlet near a lake. It has old fashioned charm and the owners could not have been more helpful and friendly. The rooms are small (necessarily due to the small scale of the buildings) and in parts a bit dilapidated however the standard of cleanliness and room facilities is top notch. The rooms and bathrooms were super clean. The food was also a delight, with ingredients either from the garden, a local organic farm or 'KRAV' rated purchased organic produce. A huge amount of thought clearly goes into everything the owners do, since they try to operate in a low-impact and sustainable way. This lovely inn has everything that those who search for 'slow food' or even just 'real food' could hope for! We went for a special occasion and would definitely go back.

Stayed here for a few days in July 2005. Really interesting and homey place! We enjoyed the art exhibit, walking in the woods and surrounding area, canoeing, and just relaxing. Very quiet and peaceful setting. Room was fine and bathroom was small but ok. The owners were SO helpful and accommodating, recommending things to do. Definitely would stay again!

We stayed a week this summer in this great small hotel. Both cultural and environmental, the surroundings are wonderful. We visited the mining museum in Falun and an opera in Leksand. The hotel is situated at a lakeside and nearby a river. We went rafting at the river, swimming in the lake and took long walks in the woods. The weather was good, which seems to be normal for this area of Sweden, due to high mountains of Norway that shield the province of Dalarna.
Every evening we came back, not to a hotel but to a home. The personnel was friendly and spoke their languages, local artists beautifully decorated the interior.
Most special was the food, a combination of worldfood and local specialities, all biologically grown, all perfectly prepared. We hope to visit this hotel many more times, and will make sure to return in winter at least one year, after the stories of the owner about the snow and Christmas in Sweden.
