My Swedish hosts took me to Erik's Gondolen toward the end of winter. We were a large party. The food was great, the view fantastic, and the people-watching intriguing for my Swedish companions. According to my hosts, a considerable number of Swedish celebrities were at the bar or dining, but hardly any tourists were there that night. Young people on dates, affluent appearing couples and groups, and some of my hosts' professional colleagues were there. I got the impression from those I spoke to that this might be a very different place off season than during tourist season, because several of those at my table told me they love this restaurant or hate it,depending on the season. While I didn't pay the bill, I gather it was expensive, but none of the Swedish folks were complaining. They thought it was worth it. I thought the food was very good. I have sent friends to Gondolen, also during off season, and all enjoyed it.
