“Classy and Charming Home Away From Home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

Credit goes to Luxe Guide Stockholm for recommending this charming and classy hotel.
Online reservations was a breeze and I appreciated the fact that I received an email from them a few days before checking in to inform me about the requests I made and other options I could consider. We were a family of four (with 2 kids, aged 9). Unfortunately, the hotel does not provide extra beds. We requested for two double beds but the hotel had only two single beds. They asked if we wished to upgrade to a family room but we stuck to our reservation. I must say it was a bit tight for the four of us. The beds were comfortable though. The room is not exceptionally large. The fact that the rooms had high ceilings was a plus. I took a peek at a junior suite which was much larger but noticed that the bed was the same size. But despite this, we would stay here again.
We visited the "living area" on the 4th floor. Worth visiting.
The breakfast was good but not great. Just mediocre.
The staff are courteous but not over friendly or possessed the go-the-extra-mile attitude.
I appreciate the follow up email received checking if I enjoyed my stay though.
We didn't realize how centrally located this hotel till we did our rounds of beautiful Stockholm.
There are so many restaurants to choose from. Saluhall is a must and it's so close.
Tip: If you book early enough, you can avail of early bird discounts :-)
Great hotel, great location.

The location of this hotel can't be beat. It is on the same street as many high end shops and just blocks away from all of the major attractions including the Old Town, musueums, national theater and opera. The lobby area is modest, but connected to a wonderful restaurant where they served a lovely breakfast in the morning. The vaulted ceilings of the rooms and calming blue color of their walls go a long way to make it feel extra spacious. The hotel was retrofitted in an historic building, complete with stained glass windows and lovely wood work.

Friendly and helpful staff, excellent standard of decoration. Ask for a room at the back to avoid sharing the joyful exodus from the local "Spy" nightclub at 2:30am! We will stay there again, despite "Spy".

Having never visited Stockholm before we decided we needed all the help we could get in ensuring we got the most out of our stay. Tripadvisor seemed to indicate that Hotel Stureplan was the one to go for - not overly expensive but ticking all the boxes. Believe everything that is written! We took the Arlanda Express train from the airport to Central Station (280 kr for two people one way) and the hotel was about a 20 minute walk from there (we don't jog!). It is located in a really nice street about five/ten minutes walk into Gamla Stan. The concierge was extremely friendly and took time to ensure we had the best room we could for our money. The wrought iron lift and stained glass window in the hall added to the charm of the place but nothing prepared us for the classic charm of our room. It was beautifully decorated, spacious, airy with settee, large bed and all the little touches that make your stay even better - from bath robes to fluffy towels and a nice array of toileteries. The shower was powerful and everything was extremely clean - we felt very pampered!
We spent five days in Stockholm and were able to walk to all of the main sights - from the Vasa boat museum to Skanson.
The staff are all very friendly and take the time to ensure all questions are answered.
We would definitely stay here again and can recommend it to make your trip to Stockholm complete

Room Tip: We chose to overlook the back courtyard as it is probably a little quieter. We had a classic room.

The Hotel Stureplan is an excellent hotel. It is a "boutique" hotel- an older hotel which has been refurbished with modern amenities. The hotel is located in the center of Stockholm, and is very convenient for shopping at downtown stores, and walking to other parts of the city such as Gamla Stan( the old city) and the Palace.
The room size is quite adequate, and very quiet. The modern bathroom is very clean and the plumbing works very well, unlike our experience in some American hotels. Room cleaning is first rate. There are also spacious well furnished common rooms on most floors.
The staff is very friendly and willing to chat about the city and where to visit. They also like to chat about Swedish culture.
We loved the breakfast: but it isn't for everyone. If you want eggs over easy with home fries or American cereals, you won't like the breakfast. It is a very filling buffet, with excellent Swedish breads, jams, lox, three types of yogurt, healthy cereals, cold cuts, coffee and tea. You won't be hungry at lunchtime. This type of diet shows why the Swedish people are mostly not overweight.
Overall, an excellent hotel without the "attitude" and with very friendly interesting staff.

Room Tip: The upper floors are very quiet- but the hotel is quiet.

This is a historic hotel with lots of character which I love. We were on the fourth floor with a window facing the tree lined street. The bedroom was a comfortable size with a double size bed and comfortable bedding. There were also a desk and chair, an upholstered chair, and a flat screen tv. The bathroom was modern with a huge shower and luxury bathrobes. An umbrella provided in the room came in handy one rainy morning. On this floor, we had access to a beautiful living room and library sitting room. The breakfast was nice. There was bacon, sausage, eggs (scrambled and hard boiled), smoked salmon, herring (pickled and dill),
tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, an assortment of breads with jams and jellies, cereals, yogurt and toppings, tea, coffee, and juice. The location was great and is walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and attractions.

Room Tip: Some rooms face the street or courtyard. You might request your preference.

We spent five nights as tourists in the Stureplan and were very pleased. The bedroom was light airy and spacious and quiet enough to ensure peaceful sleep. Breakfast was good and staff polite and helpful.
