“Delicious homemade meals, beautiful location and friendly atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014 via mobile

Down the old cobbled streets of the beautiful Gamala Stan we found The Hairy Pig Deli, whilst on a family holiday in Stockholm. Greeted by 2 friendly faces (one being the chef himself) and seated beneath ornate wooden beams, it felt homely and comfortable. We indulged in the 'sausage of day', wrapped in a bun with a spicy tang from the mustard and a side of 2 delicious tapas, it was a true delight! We enjoyed our meal so much that it was hard to resist going back there for our final day!

“Restaurant Deli, Deli Restaurant?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

Who cares! Guided by Trip Advisor reviews we checked out The Hairy Pig on Tuesday evening in the heart of the old town.
This is a relatively new venture, part deli part small cosy restaurant, still awaiting full liquor licence and no toilet but just cross your legs for a while and immerse yourself in the quaint rustic ambience within the ancient wooden beamed interior and prepare for the meal of your life!
Delicious cold cuts, sausages, chesses, hams, sides and everything you need to go with it, served on wooden platters whilst Joseph the entrepreneurial owner and chef from Surrey (!) prepares your food almost touching distance from your table, in fact one can reach out and grab the next course from him as fast as he prepares it.
I was there with my youngest son, my eldest, his partner and my two year old grand daughter, we loved this place and she couldn't get enough of the home made seed and nut biscuits!
Joseph and his wife Karolina have created a wonderful environment in which to enjoy their delicious food. They don't take bookings and if you can't get a reservation then just treat it as a deli and take the food home to eat. Credit also to the hard working waitress.

“For the people who love great food and unique scenery.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

Located in the city center in a truly old building, we can feel a lot of efforts has been done for the decoration. We seated inside, had 2 sausages with tapas and a drink each. Affordable and we can sense the cook is passionate about food. Should try!!!

“Wild Pig sausages that are fantastic in Old Town, Stockholm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2014

Joe and his wife run this little deli where all the food is hand made from the best freshest ingredients. The house specialty is sausages and cured meats - and the main ingredient is wild pig! He's apparently got along history cooking - having studied and then worked in Michelin starred restaurants. This is not quite that level... (which is of course relative) but the care and quality of the food - the different flavors of sausages and cured salami's and such indicate a serious love of the craft. Along with a great sausage for 95 crowns you get 2 sides and a small salad. The side dishes are also great as they are often spicy wings or a scalloped potato mini gratang or coleslaw he's cured for a few weeks... it's always different.
I've eaten there a number of times and I stopped ordering from the menu - I just say "make me whatever you feel like!" And it's always great!
Downside might be the lack of strong beer, but the liquor license process has been against them this season - so hopefully soon more hand crafted fine ales and IPA's and Pilsners to go with the great sausages - or Korv as the Swede's call it. The medium strength beers they do carry now are local and good!
Wild pig rules!

“Laid back, lots of (hairless) pig and good beer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2014

Went here as a result of the reviews and it was perfect for that which we wanted (and expected). A few tables outside and a few inside, with a menu focused on sausages, salamis and tapas. The local beer was good and the service prompt, even though pretty much every table was taken. It's not the place for a long intimate dinner (clue being that it's a deli), but the atmosphere was great and the owner much in evidence.
