This hotel has tons of issues and if you are looking for a flawless experience, you are better off staying else where.

While the location is good, this hotel lacks proper management, is understaffed, very disorganized AND is undergoing construction without informing guests.

We met many problems upon check-in and I just felt embarrassed towards my partner because I am the one who had pushed for this hotel.

I don't trust them and will never stay there again. It wouldnt surprise me whatsoever if they reject people who have made reservations.
Shame for such a great location.

Location - Well located in Ostermalm which we were informed by our Swedish friends is the "posh area" of Stockholm (confirmed by the presenceof Gucci and Louis Vuitton boutiques around the corner). Handy for walking to the Old Town and the Central Train Station.

Rooms - Smallish but well appointed, comfortable and clean rooms. DVD players, free weights and umbrellas are nice touches. Ask for a room with balcony if possible.

Services - Free WiFi and a guest computer in reception (although this was out of order for the duration of our trip). No restaurant in the hotel but the breakfast selection was tasty and healthy.

Minus points - The room was quite warm with no apparent way of turning the temperature down. You can hear some noise from nearby bars in the night but its nothing too excessive.

I had a booking for the Riddargatan hotel earlier this week. Since I have stayed here before, and found the hotel to be one of the better among its peers, I was in a good mood. This changed very quickly when I was told that they were sold out, and did not have the room I had reserved. I told the staff at the reception that I had meetings set up in the neighborhood the same evening and the following day. Therefore, I did not want to take a taxi to another hotel across town, which was all that was at offer. I insisted to speak to the manager. She made me really furious. I asked who her manager was, and she said that the Manager was indeed at the hotel. The Manager readily admitted that they had made a mistake, but that was it. Since I only had a booking for one night, I was clearly expendable, which the Manager openly admitted after some further discussion. In conclusion, we can all make mistakes, but when a hotel really does not care one bit, I can only advise fellow travellers to be aware and stay away from this hotel. If nothing else, this should at least solve the overbooking problem in the future.

I stayed at the Hotel Riddargatan for 2 days while I was on a business trip to Stockholm. Had found a good rate on hotels.com and pretty ok reviews on tripadvisor to match. Here's my take on this one:
Location - Superb! It is central to almost everything in Stockholm. The street itself is lined with nice shops, restaurants and bars. 2-minutes away is the lakeside from where you take the cruise. I walked down to almost all my meetings, to the Old Town(Gamla Stan, major tourist attraction) and too famous shopping streets.
Staff & Service - Very warm, friendly and helpful. Very prompt in looking up the map and giving me directions for my next meeting or anywhere else I asked for, rang restaurants at night to find out if they were open or they serve veg food, or any other request.
Room & Amenities - It is a small 50 room hotel with no restaurant. But there are several restaurants on the street. Finding food is just not a problem. It has a cute and spacious bar where breakfast is served and of course drinks. Breakfast was very good. Fulfiliing. On one night, I returned back to hotel late and without having dinner. The bartender, on request dished up a huge bruschetta(veg) with salad and olives. Nice dinner with a glass of wine and a friendly chat with barman :)
I had a single room which was rather small but good enough for me. Spotless clean, very comfortable bed, tv with 2 english channels, safe locker, tea kettle, refrigerator, bathtub, and a superb shower. Ironing board can be sent to room upon request.
Good Experience, will be my first choice of hotel on next trip to Stockholm!

After reading all the reviews of the Riddargatan, I was perhaps expecting a little too much. I was a little disappointed. It's a nice hotel, but the super touches that some of the other reviews talk about weren't evident. There was no dressing gown, just the standard bathroom smellies, the bin hadn't beem emptied since the previous guests and after using up the 2 tea-bags that were in the room when I arrived, they never got replaced (or even the tea cup washed/replaced).
The room was small, but adequate. One real problem was that the room was unbearably hot (and no air-con). The breakfast was good, but the usual buffet stuff. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. The location couldn't have been better. So overall, this is a nice hotel, which I would recommend, but at the same time, I don't think it's anywhere near as good as some of these review would have you believe. I got the hotel through Expedia, which saved me a lot of money.
