Much as it is trying to pass off as a 5* hotel, the quality of its service and rooms leave a lot to be desired!!!
Its admittedly very good location in the city of Stockholm and the good (but not 5* - no sweet at all) breakfast buffet is indeed all the hotel has at its disposal to counterbalance the lack of real cleanliness in the rooms & the unjustifiable expensiveness of anything the hotel has to offer on its in-room-dining menu!
Just as soon as I opened the window and a soft breeze blew in, dirt fluff balls rolled out from under the beds. Curiously, I moved the bed over, only to see such dirt on the floor, under the beds, as if it hadn´t been mopped for at least two months!!!
Though I have been doing a lot of hoteling for the last two decades and have been blessed enough to experience the comfort provided by several upscale hotels across the world, I cannot for the heart of me seem to figure out why the prices on the Sheraton Stockholm in-room-dining menu are almost as high as the ones of the Soneva Fushi Resort and spa in the Maldives, for example! In the case of Soneva one could put it down to the fact that as the Maldives are a unique habitat, the Maldivians have to import everything, including their water, but in the case oh the Sheraton, could somebody explain to me why, please?
It certainly cannot be explained by the cheap tacky bathroom tiles and the non existent turn-down service or by the fact that on the grounds of eco-friendliness (because when I complained I was given that as an excuse), two out of four of the days we spent in this hotel, the cleaning ladies (immigrands with hardly any English) failed to change our accidentally badly stained sheets!!! Somewhere here let it be noted that we were paying two hundred dollars per night for a standard room!!!
Also, bring your own sugar and tea spoon with you if you decide to book with the Sheraton Stockholm or make sure your travel companion is a diabetic and will not take his tea/coffee sweet, because there are only two sugar sachets on the tea making facility tray (brown only -no white!!!) in a room putting up two and no tea spoons (instead, you get two wooden sticks to stir your tea/coffee - not sure about the hygiene in this- which by the way were only changed twice in the four days)!!!
Also bear in mind that we tried to use the know-how of the hotel concierge once - on our first day - about a tranports tip, and his info proved half incorrect!!! So do take what you are told there with a pinch of salt!!!
(Just to be fair & leave no question marks, he said that if we went to the T-central station we could get an 8 rides ticket that also gave you a free boat ride to the vassa museum which was proved wrong by the man who sold us the 8 rides ticket at the central station. No such thing!!!)
Also, the mini bar is electronically checked which means that if you need for example to use its refrigeration for a medicine or something, you can't for as soon as you move something in order to make room for it you get automatically charged!!!
On the whole, by paying as much as 200 us dollars in the Sheraton you mainly just get only good location!
apparently the rooms costing 200 bucks a night have a back/side view. But, to be honest, I am not su...
