“Decent, if characterless, hostel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

Dorm rooms are subterranean and so very dark (actually quite useful to us seeing as the sun only sets at 11pm in Summer!) but also quite hot. Beds were comfy and each bed had a lockable cupboard. There was an enormous kitchen all kitted out for self-caterers. Bathrooms were mostly clean and there were enough for everyone. Free wifi. Laundry available. Absolutely decent place to stay, just a bit boring.

The family and I recently spent 2 nights at this excellent hostel. Everything from the reception to the room and breakfast were quite excellent - indeed far better than many a hotel I have stayed in of late and paid far more for. Yes the toilets/showers are communal but they were all very clean, numerous enough and with a decently high standard of fittings. Our room was a family room with 4 separate single beds all of which were clean and comfortable. The room also had a large flat screen TV (and fridge) which was unexpected though nice and had more than enough room for all our luggage and clothes. Breakfast was an extra but well worth it and really rather good indeed. In terms of location the hostel was a 5 minute walk from a 'tube' station which was just 5 stops from the Central Station and the City Centre itself. Plenty of convenience shops near the hostel too. Only downside - and really its more of a quibble than a fault - is the room was air conditioned (nice) but no obvious way to turn it off - just up and down. Would certainly stay in this hostel again.

PROS:
- Great location: very close to subway and a quick ride into the city centre
- Simple furnishings but feels modern and new
- Air con with controls in your room!
- Very clean
- Althrough toilets and showers are shared by the floor, they are very clean. All showers and bathrooms are in separate and lockable rooms
- Very helpful staff
- Laundry and bfast available (didn't try either tho)

CONS:
- A little expensive given it is a hostel and you share the bathrooms but then again, Stockholm is an expensive city.
- If someone stands right outside your door and talks, you can hear pretty clearly

Overall: Would use again

Room Tip: Try to get a room close to the bathrooms and toilets.

All in all a good hostel for a good price. The rooms are big enough, it's clean and the staff is very friendly. Even though the shared bathroom idea might not be ideal, there are enough showers available and they are all new, nice and clean.
The lobby with tv is cosy and you can have a relaxing evening there, if you don't want to go out.
The only thing I did have a problem with was the air conditioning, which you cannot switch off. In my room the noise coming from it was quite loud. The staff was lovely about it though and immediately looked for a room where the noise was less. They gave me another room that was better, but it was still impossible to switch it off (as in all the rooms in the hostel). As a consequence the room was always quite cold, not so nice to come home to if you spent the day outside with cold temperatures as well. Fortunately the lobby is warmer, so I took my book and read it there.
Also, the rather light curtains do not shut the sunlight out enough (they don't have shutters, like you see in many hotels and apartments in Sweden). With the sun rising at 4 am in summertime, that can be annoying. Fortunately they sell sleeping masks at Ahlens. :)

Room Tip: The hostel is on a busy street, so I asked for a room not on the street side and got it without any...

I had a single with a bath and shower but no window. The latter meant that my room was two floors below the street (this was disconcerting, but I decided not to think about it).

The room was small but very comfortable. I had everything I needed and don't what I would have done with any extra room. The whole room had been recently redone and was very nice. The bathroom was splendid and the shower stupendous. The best shower I have had in Europe.

The hotel is very conveniently located only two blocks from the Fridhemsplan Station, with buses and subway going where ever you need to go.

I used the kitchen once. It is large and has stations that make it very convient to use with many people at the same time. That said, I only ever saw three people in the kitchen at once.

I also had the breakfast on a few days. It was good and, while pricey, it was reasonable by Stockholm standards.

I will definitely stay here again.

This is a great hostel. Close to the metro line and very accessible. I found the bed to be comfortable, and all linen was provided-as well as a towel. There is a lock-able cupboard in the room for belongings. The toilets and showers were in the hallway, but they were clean and worked well. I cannot comment on the breakfasts as I chose the self-catering option. The kitchen was clean and well-equipped and it was great being able to do my own cooking. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.

The rooms are small but clean. All the shared baths are clean and I never had to wait for using them. The staff is friendly and really kind. I hadn't breakfast in the hostel, but the breakfast room is nice and the buffet seems to be good. The hostel is near to the metro station, to the bus stop and to numerous shop. At the corner there's Rappongi Restaurant, one of the best Japponaise restaurant in Stockolm. A good place to stay for a reasonable price. Hyped!

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side are quieter. The rooms from1 to 36 are on the floor under ground.
