“Tacky decor, nice food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013 via mobile

Although a bit skeptical about the quality of the restaurant (mainly due to its decoration), we were pleasantly surprised bu the food. Had 'pad thai gai' as main course, which tasted pretty good. We had fried scampi as appetizer, which had a generic taste - not recommending it.

“Crazy interior, good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

When you walk into this place, it feels like you ended up in a paradise restaurant somewhere in Thailand. They have worked hard with the interior and succeeded to create an illusion of not being in Sweden. The food is good, better than I expected. Large portions and a bowl of sallad to accompany that. Our waiter only spoke english, which added to the illusion. I will absolutely come back.

“Overpriced mediocre Thai food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

Dropped in for lunch. We had the whiskey marinated chicken and the stir fried shell fish. These were priced 105 and 135 SEK, respectively. For this price you can get top notch Thai food in Stockholm (lunch or dinner). Koh Phanang at Nybrogatan wasn't close. The standard price for a buffet lunch in the area is 90-100 SEK, and there are some real pearls within 500 m.

The decor is the same as the popular sister place (of same name) on Södermalm, and that is its main flaw. Somehow the over-the-top bamboo and blinkenlights orgy feels a bit old the second time around.

“A perfect replica of Thailand...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

This is the place to go if you miss your favorite beach in Thailand. They have the design down to the smallest details. Tuktuk, waterfall, multicolored lights... you name it. Even the heat and humidity. And of course the food. Huge portions and spicy but well balanced, just like you remember it. The waiters claims everyone working in their kitchen is from Thailand and I believe it. Just remember the prices - still reasonable - are not in THB but in SEK.
However, Koh Phangan opened at Nybrogatan recently in 2012 and it shows sometimes. The same dish - especially the desserts - can taste different and be of different size from time to time which can be disappointing when you return for your favorite dish. Hopefully they will sort this out too and then an "excellent" rating is not far away.
