“More of a playground than a museum”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

You and your children may not enjoy Junibacken if you do not already know Astrid Lindgren's characters and the other Swedish children books heroes. Other than that, the reproductions of the houses in the first room are nicely done and the story train that takes you through Astrid Lindgren's universe is quite impressive. Then there is Pippi Longstocking's house where the kids can play and a temporary exhibition/playground that stays around 2 years I think.
Note that this is quite an expensive place and it can be quite crowded on weekends or school holidays.

“Nice but expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Very tourisic and expensive and you can not bring you pram inside so if the little sister or brother is asleep you´d have to wait or wake.
Said that its anyway worth a visit (preferrable not on schoolholiday or weekend..), kids love it but bring your own lunch if you´re not rich.

“Play Area for Children”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Just so you know what to expect - there are 2 play areas for young children which they seem to thoroughly enjoy. There is also a "story train" which is nicely done and takes you through displays of Astrid Lindgren's stories. Other than that there is not really a "museum", so no information on the author, her life, books etc. A place for children, but adults could give it a miss. It is included on the Stockholm card.

“We are all children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

"Must do" place if you travel with a child or if you feel like a child.
It was one of the most exciting experiences during our short trip to Stockholm.
Decorations are great, it is the unique chance to play in the house of Pippi Longstocking and to make a look at the bedroom of Karlsson.

Nice minuses
The shop is really dangerous even for grown-ups, can't pass without buying something)
The travel by train to the world of Fairy tales of Astrid is so magic, that it seems to be too short, you don't want to leave this place.

“Lots of fun for kids (and adults, too!)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Even if you're not all that familiar with the works of Astrid Lindgren, this is still a fantastic place to bring children. Our 16-month old had fun climbing and exploring. Older children, though, will get even more out of it, connecting with the various tales that are represented. The train ride is a highlight and takes you through a number of stories, with audio narration available in several languages. The cafeteria was abuzz by 11:30am, even on a weekday. Be ready to do battle with the line ups and juggle trays as you get your meal and settle in at a table. (If you're lucky, you'll end up seated with a excellent view across the water - the location is supurb.) The shop has a number of Astrid Lindgren works available in translation, as well as a good selection of toys and very nice posters.
