“great place, hard to beat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2009

We booked this hotel online after reading the good reviews on TA. The price was a bit high but generally Stockholm is on the pricier side of European cities. However we did not regret it. We arrived at Stockholm T-Centralen station and from there it was only a short ride with the TB to our hotel. The hotel is just outside the entrance of the TB and there is a huge grocery store by the exit and many other shopping places around there. The hotel seems very new and the receptionist welcomed us and immediately checked us in to our room. We had the room on the 5. floor and the room was nicely furnished, clean and was modern. However since we were 3 ppl the extra bed we requested, was not in the room yet. This was rectified by house keeping rather quickly. During our stay the room was always kept clean and house keeping did a good job.
Internet access is free on the second floor where there are 4 computer terminals.
Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of local and international food on offer. It seems that breakfast is included in most hotels in Sweden. We really enjoyed it. The hotel staff was pleasant and always there to help in case we had any questions. Their knowledge was good unlike other hotels I stayed at, where the hotel staff seems to know nothing about the city.
English is no problem in Stockholm as everybody speaks it perfectly.
A tip is to rent those Stockholm city bikes which are just across the street as it is a lot of fun to discover the city with it. You can buy the cards at the bigger TB stations where you go to customer service. The hotel is located on Södermalm which is just next to Gamla Stan where the old part and the palace of the city is.

This is definitely a very good hotel to explore Stockholm!

This is clearly a hotel for conferences and coach parties but the staff are so efficient that it hardly matters. If you pay when you check in you don't need to check out and the receipt comes by email. The breakfast staff coped with a deluge of over a hundred conference delegates in the space of 20 minutes without running out of any food items on the very extensive menu. You may have to share a table but that's just an opportunity to meet new people. The bedroom was generously sized with no less than six pillows on the double bed and there was a double size shower. The location is also great as you are only a few metres away from the local metro station with a straight run to the major tourist areas and the Central station. Tip: Book as early as possible to get the best rates otherwise it can be expensive.

We booked via alpharooms and got a bargain for Stockholm. £100 per night including breakfast. As we didn't book via the hotel directly we were expecting to get a standard pokey room but had a big room on the 6th floor with full length window overlooking the motorway overpass. Windows were triple glazed so there was only a faint hum of traffic.

The bed was the comfiest bed I've ever slept in-like floating on a cloud. I'm usually a bad sleeper and had 4 great nights sleep.

Unfortunately the weather was terrible while we were there so the jaccuzzi and sauna came in handy to warm up after a day's sightseeing.

Hotel is located a few yards from a subway stop and is in my opinion the best area of stockholm with lots of bars, cafes, a favourite being pet sounds bar.

The only minus point was the room was stuffy even with the air-con on due to the bathroom underfloor heating being constantly on. This was not too much of a problem but could have been if the weather was hot.

If I visit Stockholm again this hotel will be first on my list if the price is right

The hotel is very modern and staff is friendly, but the rooms are terrible. My room was the smallest I have ever had in Scandinvia - no drawers, no cupboards - no place to have your things out of sight , only four hangers on the wall- one could never invite another person to this room. You have to stand in the bed to draw the curtains. Breakfast is included, but as I never have breakfast, that is not really interesting. Bathroom OK, but no proper soap, only a bottle of shower cream put upside down on the soapdish. Absolutely no atmosphere - get out and go to the old twon, where the nice places are. Normally I am very happy with Clarion hotels, but this was definitely not up to standards. At 2000 SEK per night one should think free internet is included - it is not - it's not even wireless.

Stayed at the Clarion Stockholm hotel for 2 nights in late May. Although 3 tube stops away from central station and 2 from old town, it is on the main line and well connected. Tube station is 50m away from hotel entrance. Also within walking distance to old town, about 30min.
Stylish and modern new hotel, with excellent amenities: bars, restaurant, gym/fitness, wi-fi...
Requested a quiet (standard) room in a higher floor and got it: floor 6.
Good size bedroom with very nice bathroom. Bed very confortable, they put a kind of soft thin duvet on top of the mastress making the bed very cushioning. Had a great sleep in it and no noise from the corridor, road (double glazing).
Used the sauna/jacuzzi on the 8th floor as it has a stunning view through the all glass wall onto the suburb and ring road. Access is free of charge.
Excellent buffet breakfast in the morning, with a pletora of choices.
Overall, good value for money and a classy modern hotel for HIP travellers ! Definitely recommend it.

There are good aspects to this hotel; good buffet breakfast, local restaurants (best being Hermans, very yummy vegie buffet with great views of the city), location ok (approx 5km to city centre), and the underground literally next door. However our room was very uncomfortable, bed was sagging and there was underfloor heating in the bathroom (constantly on) that made the whole room feel like a sauna. And of course as with all big hotels, no opening windows. Very uncomfortable and stuffy. We were gagging for fresh air each morning.

My Husband and I have just got back from a three night stay at the Clarion. It was a great holiday and the Clarion was perfect for our trip. The location is good, just three stops on the underground from Gamla Stan, the main old town area. We walked regularly and it took us about 20 min each way to reach the main town area. The hotel is literally outside the metro station and signed so that took the stress away.

Our room on the 6th floor was large and very comfortable. It was clean and modern and could have easily fitted a third person (there was a spare bed under a sofa). The bathroom was also large and well appointed with a good shower.

The breakfast serving time and check out were very generous- check out until 12 midday and breakfast til 10.30 on weekends. The breakfast was lovely - loads of choice including pancakes, fruit, hot food and full continental and lots of strong coffee!

Staff all helpful and lots of nice touches like fresh fruit available all day in the lobby and fruit flavoured water in the 'relax' space - the sauna and hot tub have a great view and were a great place to relax!

Only weird thing was the two separate single duvets we had on our double bed.....! Also, even though we were next to the stairs the room was very well sound proofed - didn't hear anything or anyone.

Hotel area was very nice: mainly residential and shopping (hotel opposite shopping centre and next to department store. Hotel close to an excellent restaurant Pelikan which served delicious Swedish style food and we would recommend it!
