“Trendy Stockholm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

The trendy and hipster side of Stockholm shows off in Sodermalm. No girls with dragon tattoos to be found but great boutiques and cafes to watch the beautiful crowd go by. Also loads of history on the side streets and great views of Gamlastan and central Stockholm from the promenade on top of the cliffs.

“The place to go”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014

It used to be a working class area with cheap pubs, clubs and flats...Years gone by and it is the hippest place to be for alternative people rock stars, actors etc. Not cheap but still the place to find original small boutiqes, tattoo shops, music stores, clubs, bars, food from all over the world etc. What you don't have is big malls with big companies :-) Also, enjoy picnics in the summer at many locations on the island and take a swim in the sea!

“One of the best neigbourhoods to stay as a tourist in Stockholm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

It´s just two stops by the metro, or a 25 minutes walk from the Centralstation.

It is more charming, more peaceful and more fun than staying at Södermalm than in the area by the Centralstation.

It has many good restaurant and bars.

So if you in the past has stayed by the shoppingstreet Drottningsgatan, try Söder instead.

“Be hungry when you go there”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2013

We booked a Food Tour through Södermalm with "Food Tours Stockholm" and we were completely blown away by the area.

There are so many little and special restaurants in the area that we will be back and only spent our time in Södermalm.

Södermalm itself is not as old as the rest of Stockholm but there is a very young vibe in this area and it is a great place to go out at night.

Start your evening in one of the restaurants (maybe the Peruan restaurant) and end the night in one of the bars or even the Melt bar with one of their burlesque shows.

“Trendy, yet full of the old world all in one place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

Was in Sodermalm visiting friends. First time there. Katarina Kyrka was in their neighborhood and visited that, then wandered and shopped along Hogbergsgatan and nearby down to Hammarby. You find modern apartment houses and old buildings hundreds of years old. The Anno Hotel is right there at the Slussen stop. Winding cobblestone streets, coffee shops and antique stores - I was in heaven!
