My husband placed a gold ring on my finger in the Riddarholm church. But he was so nervous he dropped it and the ring bounced and landed on one of the ancient tombs on the floor. Then it tapped on the grave of an ancient nobleman who hadn't been visited for centuries and I am sure his toe must have tapped back within. Now my gold ring is forever suffused with the magic of Stockholm and of the fabulous King Gustav III, who loved opera madly and whose tomb sits within this church. We were there one August. The setting opens to a wide expanse of water, and it is inspiring, day and night. Life goes on all over the world while here lies a treasure in Stockholm that most people don't even know about. But now you do.
