“Breathtaking views from the 8th floor!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

This hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Arlanda Express which made it very convenient; while the lobby area is small, it is also very welcoming, with a library-themed sitting area and a glass-walled restaurant area. The Scandic has the top floors of a neighbouring conference facility, so you actually walk from one side of a city block to the other, within the hotel, to get to your room if you're lucky enough to snag one on the 8th or 9th floors, but the views are worth it, as is the size of the family superior with its walk in closet, great bunk beds (and as I am shorter than our 14 year old daughter, I slept in the bottom bunk and had a very, very comfortable night). We had an early flight, so missed the breakfast, but were given 4 "room service to go" bags with very healthy selections of fruit, drinkable yogurt (who knew strawberry lime could actually taste so good?), juice and muffin - perfect for the Arlanda Express journey back to the airport in the early morning!

The hotel is in a convenient location and staff were friendly and welcoming. Our family room was on the 8th floor with nice city views and was bright, spacious and comfortable with an extra bed and extra towels for our family of 5 in place. Good tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Nice clean, modern bathroom. Perhaps needs a bit of updating around the corridors and could certainly do with a more defined, more spacious eating area - the lobby and "restaurant" seem to be a bit of an open plan/all-in-one affair - a bit off putting having guests arriving/leaving bashing against your chairs with their suitcases. It was very busy at breakfast and the staff weren't always managing to clear the tables in time. Breakfast was good though with a good selection and as the room was so good I wouldn't let it put me off. We enjoyed our stay here.

I often stay at Scandic Hotels in Sweden--you can easily get great deals, they have an eco-profile, the rooms are usually fine, and they are known to have good breakfasts. I chose Norra Bantorget for a one-night stay in the capital. Because I knew my time would be limited in the actual room, I chose the cabin room, which means you only have a window out to the hallway. When I went to bed, I thought, "Hey, this wasn't so bad at all for a short stay!" The room was clean, comfortable, had a fridge and great shower. But then at 8 am, a loud drilling noise woke me up (not fun on a Saturday after going to a concert until 2 am). But worse than that was the breakfast--total chaos! Too many people, hard to find a table, messy food area, long line to the coffee, hot bowls for yoghurt (just washed and not washed well), food running out. Worst Scandic breakfast ever.
Despite the friendly, professional staff and comfortable room, I probably will not stay here agin.

Room Tip: The cabin room is fine for one night for one person if you will not be in the room much. Cheaper tha...

We stayed in room 812, which we were upgraded to upon check-in. This room seemed like very good value for the special web price we had payed. This modern hotel has a nice vibe with a restaurant and bar downstairs, with an outside terrace which is shaded, and a non-shaded terrace on an upper floor. The breakfast is included, plentiful and very good, including fresh fruit like pineapple, watermelon, apples and bananas, scrambled eggs, meatballs, sausages, cereal, cheese, ham etc, juice and coffee, plus pastries and cookies and lots of different types of bread. The modern room was clean, except for something sticky on one small part of the floor, had wooden floors, coffee-tea making facilities, safe, shower cabin, flat screen TV, desk, iron, ironing board. No fridge. The location is within walking distance to the Central Station if you don't have heavy luggage. It is around the corner from the pedestrianized shopping on Drottninggatan, and within walking distance from the old part of town (Gamla Stan). I would stay here again.

Room Tip: 812 is very good.

As people have already mentioned this hotel is ok, but nothing to remember. If you get a good bargain, then go for it. If you want something special, go sowhere else. A location is good near main shopping street and you walk less than 10 minutes to the central railway station. The rooms are a little bit old and worn, but clean. There is no gym or sauna, but a free wifi. Breakfast was basic Scandic-level.

If you come from Arlanda airport, you should consider bus-connection, which costs only 99 kr oneway and it takes only 35 minutes (expensive Arlanda Express train takes 20 min).

We stayed in Scandic Norra Bantorget hotel for ten days and we haven't experienced any inconvenience or anything to complain about. We had nice, clean, quite room. We were both pleasantly surprised by the breakfast. Really nice variety of food - didn't get tired of it for the entire stay. True the breakfast area was a bit crowded during the ruch hour but we always found a place. Hotel stuff was friendly, helpful and pleasant. For the price we paid it was great - especially for Stockoholm. Just one recommendation for those who needs complete darkness to sleep - bring your eye mask :)

Good and quiet street, clean, helpful staff, very little room. Nothing special. You can spend here some nights, You will forget it soon. Good for a business trip, but if you want to feel some "swedish" atmosphere, try to find another hotel.
