“Great Hotel in Perfect Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2010

We stayed at the Freys Hotel this past April. We had a triple room, with a balcony. The room itself was keep very clean, and all of the hotel staff were very nice. We took the Arlanda Express train in from the airport and it is 1 block away from the hotel, which made it very easy on us. Our room was large, as was the baclony. They brought in a roll away bed for our teenage daughter. The breakfast in the morning had many items to choose from, and you can walk to almost anyway in the city. We were about 2 blocks from the main shopping street which had dozens of restaurants and coffe shops on it. It was about a 15-20 min. walk to Old Town. We only used the subway once. Old Town was very interesting, like stepping back in time. We would also recommend a boat sightseeing tour. The Vasa museum was fantastic, with this complete 300+ year old ship that was put back together. All and all, Stockholm is a wonderful city with losts of museums. All the people we met spoke perfect English and were very helpful and polite.
The hotel staff were very helpful since we were stuck there and extra 5 nights do to the Volcanic ash from Iceland. We were luck to be able to keep our room, since the hotel was fully booked, but those that were heading for it couldn"t get in. There were many people walking the streets with their suitcases!
The front desk even made phone calls for us to try and strighten things out about our flight home, which changed from day to day.
We did have dinner at the hotel that was very good but expensive. It was always packed. There are so many places within walking distince that dinner was never a problem. In fact right on the same street was a restauraunt called the London Pub, or something like that. It was very good and had a great staff. If we came back to Stockholm I know we will stay here again. You can't go wrong with this place.

Freys is located in a quiet street opposite the central station. It is easy walking to Gamla Stan and other points of interest. Our room was larger than we expected ( superior double) and was extremely clean. We had asked for a quiet location; the room faced a courtyard. Everything in Sweden is heated - something we find a little over the top. We were pleased that we could open our window and let in the fresh air. The room had a small sink and fridge which was handy. The desk staff were very helpful and the breakfasts were delicious. There is a bar/restaurant attached to the hotel that specialises in Belgium beer. You will need to book a table in advance.

This was a lovely hotel. Nice and clean and not far from the city centre. It was walking distance to lots of amenities and was easily accessible to local busses.

The staff were friendly and the hotel was quite modern and cozy.

This hotel is a kind of hidden gem in the middle of city centre. On the next door stand the best shopping areas on Stockholm.
Staff was very friendly and warmhearted. I don't have anything negative to say about this hotel.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2009

I was given a warm welcome and given a room high up which was bright and had a good view given the hotel's context in the tall buildings nearby. My bedroom was fine - if rather overcrowded with toys and snacks that were for sale. If I had wanted to go shopping, I'd go to the shops - but would rather not have had all this stuff around my room. Nevertheless, the room was comfortable and I slept well.

The breakfast was fine, but available in such a dark room I found it difficult to get around. And when I had discovered my original place, the items I had chosen had been cleared away! Nevertheless, a perfectly good stay at a reasonable rate (for Stockholm).
