Lovely, trendy, stylish hotel in Stockholm. It's located in a calm part of the city, but close to the shopping street and subway-station. The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was great and kept me full all the way 'til dinner.

We stayed at the Birger Jarl for one night as a stop over to Kiruna. All I can say is that I wish we had had longer here! Everyone was lovely, so helpful and went out of their way to ensure that you had a wonderful stay there. Its quite central to everything and in 30mins, you can be in the "old town".

The breakfast buffet was brilliant, hot, fresh and very tasty!

The rooms aren't the biggest, but they don't need to be. You have everything you need in these rooms including a TV with English channels and the beds are lovely! We will be returning to Stockholm very soon and I will definitely book this hotel again.

We stayed at the Birger Jarl for 4 nights in December 2012. We had 2 adjoining rooms for our family group. The lobby looked great with lots of decorated Christmas trees. Our rooms were very quiet and the beds were comfortable and warm with down coverlets. The hotel staff was very helpful with directions and suggestions, and the breakfast buffet was outstanding. We appreciated the free water and chocolate in the mini-bar, and we dried our snowy gloves and mittens on the heated towel rack in the bathroom. We played cards at a high table in the hotel bar one night while we had drinks and dessert, the staff could not have been nicer. You need your room key to operate the elevator, that made me feel very secure. The Birger Jarl is a few blocks walk to the subway, then all of Stockholm is at your finger tips. Arriving we hauled outr luggage from the subway to the hotel thru the snow, but when it was time to go back to the airport the front desk arranged a van for the 5 of us and a lot of luggage for 780K. It wasn't much more than the flybus, and we didn't have to deal with the luggage on the subway.

Perhaps as an American I have a different expectation of service and amenities, but I was thoroughly disappointed with this hotel. I stayed there in early December 2012.

True it's a hip, modern hotel that is probably appealing to many of the guests under 40. True the breakfast was great and the location acceptable for those staying in downtown/central Stockholm.

What was very disappointing was the lack of amenities. The fitness facility had very limited hours of operation. There was no pool. The number of TV channels was very, very limited. There wasn't a dedicated concierge, bellboy or doorman -- all things that four-star hotels offer.

Worst of all was my room, which was windowless and very small, even by European standards. While clean and modern, it was pathetically small. The bed was a twin -- something you would expect in a student dormitory and not a four-star hotel.

This isn't to say the hotel isn't nice, because it is. It just isn't a four-star hotel.

Room Tip: Don't accept a room without windows.

On an extremely quiet location, only 10-15 minutes on foot from Sergelstorg and with choice of underground nearby, we had a wonderfull 4-day stay in this hotel. We are sure to return on our next visit to Stockholm area.

The hotel was lovely, modern and met all of our needs. However it wasn't very close to the waterfront so the location isn't ideal for sightseeing. The area around the hotel was nice and has a few good bars.

Arrived at the hotel at 1100 hours and was told the room wasn't ready and that we would have to return at 1500 hours, this is the first time we have ever been told this throughout the world.
The room was a superior room on the seventh floor. It was fantastic, very clean and modern. The minibar was topped up every day with a couple of bottles of sparkling water which was complementary throughout our stay. the room was so peaceful during the night and during the day, you could hear a pin drop. The woman who cleaned our room everyday done a fabulous job, couldn't fault her at all. The hotel is 15 minutes walk from the centre of Stockholm, very good location. The buffet breakfast was lovely, with lots of choices. The main hot food is the usual, meatballs, scrambled and boiled eggs, sausages and bacon.
The staff are the rudest, unfriendliest bunch of people I have ever met in a hotel. when we arrived back at 1500 hours to check in, my wife asked if the room had a bath, the girl at reception said 'I don't know, you can go and have a look if you want'. We just settled for the room with the shower which was lovely anyway. For the seven days we stayed there, not once did any of the staff great us with a good morning etc when we came down for breakfast or when we came in or out of the hotel. The only friendly member of staff appeared to be a young Asian man who was working the night shift. I had to go to hospital and he was very helpful and concerned. Even on the last day as we left we needed a taxi due to the thick snow outside and the transport system failing we asked the receptionist for a taxi and she stated that no taxis were running in the city that day. As we left the hotel, two taxis were waiting outside for people with reservations and we saw at least 11 taxis on the road from the hotel to the underground station. Would never stay here again. The hotel is lovely but the staff let it down. Maybe a customer service course should be given by management.

Room Tip: Choose a Superior Room, 726 is nice.
