Everybody knows that Stockholm is an expensive capital city. Therefore to get a hotel centrally-located with fair rates can't be bad. Being situated so centrally can have it's disadvantages, though, and the fact that the hotel supplies rooms with ear plugs rather gives the game away! At weekends, if you are on a lower floor room, revellers outside can be noisy.
Swings and roundabouts, though. The lovely waterfront is 10 minutes away, the nearest metro station, with a supermarket, is 5 minutes away, and there is plenty of choice of shops and restaurants within 2 minutes - during my July visit the hotes restaurant was closed, and only snacks were served.
A slow, rickety lift serves all floors, and bedrooms were adequate rather than substantial. I did like the hotel having a coffee urn available all day - help yourself.
Outside is a pleasant veranda with seats for smokers and drinkers, though at Stockholm prices you may want to make your drink last. Never mind, 100m up the road is an English pub, the Spitfire, with a happy hour!
Reception was helpful and courteous, and overall the hotel, which does cater for groups, had a pleasant atmosphere - and a decent breakfast.
