“Chic Boutique Hotel in Stockholm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2010

I went to Stockholm for the Royal Wedding of Princess Victoria and the Grand Hotel was booked by the Royal Family so I choose the Bern's Hotel. There were a number of positive and negative reviews of the hotel on-line. I found the location of the hotel Excellent. Close to shopping and within walking distance of may of the sights of Stockholm. It is on a quiet park that was nice to sit and relax and have a glass of wine in the evening. The hotel does have a popular nightclub and entertainment venue in it and I had read complaints that it was loud on the weekends but I did not hear it at all. I did have a rather large suite at the rear of the building so this may have contributed to the lack of noise. The staff was nice and helpful and breakfast in the morning was excellent. The bathroom was clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable with a fluffy down comfort. The sitting area was modern and well maintained. It is an excellent place to stay for the young and hip with money to burn. It might be a bit to modern and chic for an older couple.

This beautiful hotel is located right in the heart of Stockholm.

We stayed during my partner's birthday and the hotel helped me with having some champagne etc in the room upon arrival that I had arranged with them by email a few days earlier--it was all done perfectly and looked great! The staff were friendly every step of the way, and even offered a few free cocktails when we arrived...a very welcome gesture indeed!

The room itself was very nice as well. Breakfast, too, was nice!

My only complaint really was the lack of a/c -- but granted, the days we were in Stockholm were unusually hot, had never experienced such hot days there during all my years living in the city. So I am sure the missing a/c would not really make much of a difference at almost any other time.

Would love to stay here again!

We stayed for 3 nights in April 2010. The hotel is well located - a short walk to the city centre shopping area and a good choice of restaurants and bars within a 10 minute walk. We found it a good base from which to explore the city. The hotel combines a modern stylish design in the bedrooms, with an opulent restaurant/bar area. We had a great room on the first floor, comfortable and spacious seating area, with access to a small terrace outside. I had noted comments from previous reviews about noise concerns during the evening. We had no issues with noise, although we did stay mid-week, which may make a difference. However the downstairs club did have events on during our stay, as evidenced by breakfasting with pop stars the next morning. We ate in the restaurant one evening and had a good meal there, and a really friendly and helpful waitress. Otherwise you can just enjoy a drink in the grand surroundings. Breakfast arrangements were rather relaxed, to the point where you had to make the effort to find someone if you wanted anything that wasn't immediately to hand, but this wasn't a major issue. This is a good hotel to choose if you are looking for a cool, romantic place to stay in a great city.

This place has the most amazing restaurant - a massive room with ornate ceiling and a conservatory overlooking a small garden square. Breakfast was great (proper coffee!) as was the service. My room on the other hand was cold (it was -12C outside) and despite turning the heating up to max never got warm. I could easily have dealt with this but the duvet appeared to be stuffed with baby sparrow feathers and had a tog rating of 0.1. Maybe some kind of Swedish masochism thing. Location superb and pretty good value - a good alternative to Movenpick blandness overall.

The hotel is right in the city center and close to lots of shopping malls and resturants. But the hotel is kind of a let down as the rooms are a bit cramped. Best for a business trip, give it a miss if you are on a leisure trip.
