“Delightful stay and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2011

This hotel is located in Gamla Stan - the 'old town', almost next door to the King's Palace. Stockholm is all peninsulars joined by bridges and the old town is a delightful network of shops and cobbled streets with a convenient T-bahn (underground) that takes you one stop away to central Stockholm. The hotel is a treasure trove of collected artefacts mostly seagoing related. Named after Lord Nelson's lady friend, on arrival as a solo woman I received a welcome ladies gift basket. Most interesting decor and attention to detail in the attractive though small room with perfect en suite facilities. My room overlooked the narrow cobbled street where passersby and horse drawn carts and horses were evident from time to time but I found it very quiet despite that. Around the corner from teh King's palace - though do take the ferry to visit teh palace where the Royal family live which has wonderful gardens. The hotel is also close to many eateries plus many independent shops - though some very touriest oriented - though you can soon work out where the real value is located in the local craft outlets. Though my trip was initially for business I moved to this hotel to have an extended weekend stay as a special treat. Sweden is an expensive location and the hotel was at the very top end of my budget perhaps even beyond but totally worth it. Breakfast was pleasant though not very accommodating of vegetarians apart from eggs. There is also a special spa facility which has some historical origins though I did not make use of it.

The Hotel is perfectly located in the old town close to restaurants and sight seeing! It's packed with items that are related to boats, just a little too much for my taste because it gives the place a "dusty feeling". Rooms are small & again overly decorated. Nice buffet for breakfast and a bathroom that had been recently redone! If you have light sleep the church that is close by and let's you know the exact time every 15 minutes can be a problem. The Sauna looks very nice but I haven't tried it myself.

We were 2 friends and had asked for two separate beds. We were given a room with 3 beds, one of which was in a separate room which was very convenient. The rooms were small and cosy and the bathroom was very modern. It was a very quiet room as it was not located on the streets. Breakfast was good and had a wide range of food: ham, cheese, eggs, yaourts, bread, jam, cereal, coffee (really delicious...), tea... The staff isn't the high point of the hotel and was not always willing to help or had not always the basic information. We also had a little problem with hot water in the bathroom which was not really hot.
The hotel looks charming and is very weel located, just a few steps from the Royal Palace. It is quite expensive, as are most of the thing in Sweden but I think it was worth it.

I've stayed in lots of hotels on business but this place is lovely. Friendly staff and charming facilities . Breakfast wasn't too bad either. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Fantastic location + free Sauna

2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2011

The eighteen century Lady Hamilton was a woman of low morality, this hotel is one of low quality.

It is just round the corner from the cathedral and the royal palace, and a host of unpleasant tourist junk shops and avoidable restaurants, the real heart of the town is back on the mainland. It does have a marvellous staircase but it also has rooms that are very dated and very small, tiny in fact. Despite the booking saying that if rooms were available there would be an upgrade, and the hotel being almost empty, I was told that this was not hotel policy! I didn't want anything special, just a room rather than a cupboard. Decor was hopelessly dated, an exhausted chintzy look. Have they never heard of ikea ? (For the record I don't like ikea and clearly wasn't expecting it here, but it is the twenty first century. You can have period style, which does not mean heaps of hopeless junk.) Breakfast was miserable, barely enough for the few folk there, had the hotel been busy, I'm not sure where we'd all have gone. I had moved from a place near the railway station as this had sounded so good for one night at the end of a business trip but had I been staying more than one night, that's where I'd have gone back to.

I stayed at the Lady Hamilton Hotel for 4 nights on a business trip with some Tourism involved. The Location was perfect for both! It was a short walk from the Central Station and right in the centre of the old town, which meant at the weekend I didn't have to stray far to explore the most beautiful part of the city. The staff were amazing and really helpful, and the breakfast was really good and well organised.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely go back.

Being in the heart of the old town, Lady Hamilton a great base for site seeing in Stockholm. The hotel is small and cozy, with friendly helpful staff, and unique little curios scattered everywhere making even walking through the halls interesting. Breakfast was a good quality and plentiful. I found the room a little warm (even in autumn) and there could be a little noise from the street in the early mornings with garbage collectors and street cleaners. Stepping out the front door straight into the centre of beautiful Gamla Stan made that tolerable.
