I travel to Stockholm frequently for business reasons, and I've stayed in many hotels there. Lately my company has always booked me a hotel room in the Elite Stockholm plaza, so I've been staying here several times. The hotel is good compared to other hotels in the city. The "ups" are its excellent location (close to Stureplan) a good service and an excellent breakfast. The "down" is that the rooms are very small an there is not a wide array of bathroom amenities. The bath towels are the smallest I've ever used . All in all, it is a quite good option for a short business stay in Stockholm.

“Used to be better”

Elite Hotel Stockholm Plaza

I have stayed at this hotel about ten times in the past few years. This time we spent three nights at the Elite Stockholm Plaza. I cannot quite put my finger at the problem, but I have the very distinct feeling that this place is not getting any better. This time, somebody had pulled the plug from both the TV and the telephone, and it took quite some fixing to get these machines back in shape. Do not they ever check these things? I asked for some extra towels, given their miniscule size and poor quality. Yes, they did arrive but not exactly with a smile. Breakfast is OK but then again there is that feeling that it was much better a few years ago. In my view, the excellent location could potentially justify a service that is not top-notch, but having stayed at a few similar hotels in this neighbourhood, I will probably go somewhere else next time.

“Sure plan for Stureplan”

We (a group of 4) stayed for 4 nights in this excellent hotel in Ostermalm. The hotel is situated on the very fashionable Stureplan and has an excellent bar/restuarant attached to it.

The staff were more than helpful and dealt with a number of requests from us (e.g. numerous taxis, dealing with airports, local recommendations, directions etc etc). The rooms, though on the small side, were clean and well furnished. They were also rather comfortable and we could have our little soirees/rallies prior to venturing out for the evening.

The hotel was perfectly positioned to be within easy reach of the cultural sites as well as great bars & restuarants (East, Spy Bar, Sturehof etc.) Also, only a short cab ride from Sodermalm.

Overall, if you are travelling in a small adult group, this would be perfect for you.

Very nice hotel on good location. At first I was afraid of noise, but my room was very quiet. I had window to small back street, not perfect view, but it was without traffic. I prefer quietness to nice view. My single room was quite small, but well equipped and clean. Breakfast was rich.

“Very Disappointed”

The location of this hotel is good but I was very disappointed with my room. Upon entering, the hotel looks very nice. I was there in the morning (about 11am) and had requested an early check in but the desk advised I could not. I asked if I could go ahead and check in so that a good room could be blocked and was told no. We checked our luggage with them and went out for the rest of the day.

We arrived back at 6pm and checked in. The elevator is so tiny (vintage building) that only one person with luggage can fit so we took separate elevators. We opened the door to the room and it was extremely warm. It was hot in Stockholm that day. I called the desk asking where the air conditioning thermostat was and was told the hotel is not air conditioned "but air circulates throughout the hotel". I could feel no such circulation. I opened the window to let air in. Much to my chagrin, it was noisy. As it turns out, if you stay on the left hand side of the hotel you overlook a walkway to a pedestrian tunnel which connects one street to another. This was a busy walkway...people on cell phones, music playing, loud kids, etc. but if I wanted air I had to put up with noise....not advised if you are tired and want to go to bed before 11pm (when the tunnel closes).

I called and asked to change rooms and was told I was in one of the better rooms but could upgrade to a junior suite for a substantial charge. I said "forget it". (This was the same person who told me "air is circulating throughout the hotel").

The room was tiny. There is no work space, just a small table with 2 chairs so this is not the place for a business traveler. The bathroom had been redone and was extremely clean. The bizarre thing was the shower set up (shower only, no tub). It was a glass enclosure but there were gaps in the glass so water went all over the flower. I could barely open the door because it scraped on the floor. There are no shelves in the shower so you have to put the soap and shampoo on the floor....very strange. Considering that this was a recent renovation (at least it appeared to be) somebody didn't do their homework. Also, they don't provide wash cloths so bring your own!

Pros: location, cleanliness, flat screen tv

Cons: no air conditioning (problem if it is hot), tiny room, no work space, shower, noise if window is open and you are overlooking pedestrian walkway

Based on my experience I don't consider this a four star hotel. 3 start is stretching it.
