“Probably a summer attraction”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2014

We visited in February and although the buildings were interesting it felt very empty. Given that it's an open air museum I imagine that in the summer there is more staff around dressed in period outfits giving information of the buildings. The animals made the visit worth it - the bears are in hibernation, but there are seals, wolves, elk and a huge owl that we manage to see at feeding time. The souvenir shop was very good.

“Would be much better in Summer!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

My friend had recommended a trip to Skansen, when we got there it was only 100 kroner (cheap compared to other things in Stockholm!) but only 3 of the houses were actually open, most of it was shut and I think there were about 15 people visiting in total! Very good views though and the animals were out (apart from the bears - they were hibernating!)

In the children's zoo they have domestic cats, and stuffed toys in cages!

“Give it a miss in winter”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014

I'm sure in the sunshine this is a great place to visit but in winter it's too quiet and most of it was closed. The bears were hibernating, like most of the staff it seems !
We still had a nice outdoor walk in the sunshine but it was a ghost town.

“Spend a day here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

No matter the weather every one should come and explore this unusual and fantastic museum! We got to Skansen in January and though it was cold you are too interested in surroundings to worry about it. Popping into little houses or coffee places will keep you warm enough to keep going.

“Good preservation of nature and history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

Very good preservation of history and natural environment for the animals. In the traditional houses we received a warm welcome from traditional dressed women which explained us carefully the history of different local craftsmanship. It was very cool
