On a short visit to Stockholm, wasn't sure whether to visit Skansen or not, as I knew it'd take a big chunk out of the break... Still, the Christmas market was on and snow had fallen, so gave it a go...
Not disappointed! It's a good old walk around and the market was really entertaining. You've a rough idea what to expect if you've been to Christmas markets before, but seeing this one in seasonal conditions was well worth it. It was very cold (-5 most of the day) but some of the warm mulled wine (Glogg) helped keep the chill at bay. Did see the Old Town Christmas Market and another at Kungstradgarden, but there was on another level.
There's quite a variety of activities going on and I can imagine it's equally popular during warmer months, but just watching the glassblower, market traders in custom dress and some of the olde worlde type buildings made for a good time.
We combined this with the Vasa Museum (about 10-15 mins walk between the two) and it was a day well spent
