“Impressive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

There is plenty to see here and the museum houses one of the largest collections of Viking artefacts and gold in Europe. Some of the jewellery would not look out of place in a bond street window of today.

“A good view of Swedish history well done”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

The museum is laid out over three floors and it is very easy to move through the Pre-History, Vikings, the Medieval and the Baroque periods. Throughout the signage on the items is very good and easily understood by English only speakers. The Viking Section had details of the "Birka Girl" from the settlement of Birka, which was a major town in Viking times not far from Stockholm, a recreated long ship and relics from the introduction of Christianity in the 9thC amongst many other very interesting items. A real highlight was the Gold Room in the basement with its displays of elaborate gold and silver jewellery, coins and magnificent 5thC gold collars. There is a café which served us a good lunch in an uncrowded environment.

“There's always something new”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013 via mobile

My third time to visit and still I find the exhibition and various artifacts fascinating. Children as small as three years old can actually enjoy and get something out of it. The space is generous for the visitor's leisure, so the information that is stacking up in your brain doesn't seem too much. But it is indeed a lot you can gain from the tour, and it's great there are parts that have English translations. Particularly excellent for kids is the archeology room. Loved the boutique too!
