“So much for a Grand Experience...Not!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

The staff who I spoke to and dealt with were arrogant and not bothered with what customers have to say about their experiences. They would offer you sparkling bottle of water for free but guests will have to pay if they wanted a still bottle of water. Yes we all know that tap water is safe to drink in Stockholm but what if the guests just would prefer bottled. Overall I must say overrated and would not recommend it unless you are a superstar and can splash money as you wish. Would not recommend.

Room Tip: Don't even bother because they do not listen anyway. I requested for a room with a view and on t...

Amazing mojitos in a truly beautiful setting, really wish we had been staying here. Cocktails not too expensive given it was Sweden and a five star hotel. Well worth a visit if u are in the area although bar service not speedy so make you are not in a hurry.

My husband and I stayed four nights at the lovely Grand Hotel in Stockholm. We were there in late August, and truly enjoyed the hospitality and the grandeur of this grand dame of Stockholm. Breakfast was included; and it was a buffet, featuring a very nice selection of hot and cold dishes to please evey palette; ours included. The breakfast room overlooks the street and the harbor; unfortuantely there is currently ongoing construction to shore up the harbor, so the view is not as nice as it could have been without the construction barricades, etc.

The hotel is centrally located, just a few blocks walk to great shopping and dining. The H & M Store was only a 5-minute walk; and we found great restaurants (with the help of our concierge) within a 5 to 10-minute walk from the otel.

Each room at the Grand is individually decorated; and ours was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the nightly turn-down service; and also very much enjoyed the pool's heated pool and sauna, which are complimentary to hotel guests. We had to pass on the steam room, as people who were occupying that room were not wearing much, if anything; and as we are unaccustomed to that, we decided to forego it.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel if you like ambience, pampering and an attentive staff, along with roomy and comfortable accomodations. We thought it was everything we could ask for and more.

While the Grand Hotel Stockholm may have a storied history, the price is exhorbitant for what you get - even when taking into European hotel pricing and quality into account. I would not stay again and find there are other equally nice hotels in Stockholm such as the First Hotels and some of the Radissons in the central area. I did not find it to be worth it. The gym is good so there is no need to workout somewhere else. Staff are helpful/friendly.

I would say if you like a good breakfast, come here for breakfast and stay somewhere else and save yourself a few thousand while still having the opportunity to enjoy a delicious start to your day.

The Grand is a great hotel excellently located overlooking the Royal Palace. The room we stayed in was the Nobel Suite which is basically where Nobel Prize Winners stay. I personally found the building quite claustrophobic as the windows in our suite (not able to open) really really tiny and very little natural light comes in. The bathroom is lovely and large with a bath in the centre but again a really dark shower cubicle (nice and large though). The lifts too are really tiny and old. The service is highly professional and there is also a Michelin restaurant on site. All in all a great property if you enjoy a more traditional type of hotel. I myself prefer something a little more contemporary and minimalist. Recommended however

Very nice hotel right in the heart of the city. The location can't be beat for hitting all the key tourist areas of Stockholm. Within walking distance to the old town as well as the key museums. Make sure you make it to the Vasa Museum - really neat experience. It's a nice time of year to go in general because there aren't any lines, but it's not way too cold yet.

We did a quick weekend stay with a rate that included breakfast - which was very nice. They have a great buffet with a good selection of local and standard breakfast foods. The hotel has a few places that are being renovated, but it never really caused us any issues. The rooms are nice. Above average for amenities, but a pretty standard size as European hotel rooms go.

Overall a very nice hotel if you are going to Stockholm.
