“Cozy, comfortable, well-located”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2014

We had a very comfortable stay at the Victory Hotel. Typical for European hotels, the room was small but we had both a sitting area, a bedroom, a good sized bathroom with a double shower head and a lot of cubby-holes and space to store our belongings. The bed was comfortable and the windows opened to the street, though we did leave the bedroom window closed at night due to some street noise (more pedestrians talking than cars driving). The hotel had a very nice bathroom with two sinks, which is a nice touch in a hotel. They only had gel soap (no bar soap) and no washcloths, so be warned if you care, as my husband did. The free wireless works well. The hotel is well-located -- easy to find and just minutes from the palace and other sites. We even had a small view of the water from our room (306), There is a large breakfast buffet that was included in the price of our room with both European (cheese, cured meats) and more American-type options (eggs, bacon, pancakes). We left before breakfast our last day, and they kindly provided us with a sandwich, coffee, and juice, which was very much appreciated. There is an excellent restaurant (Djuret) - though it is expensive and you need to like (love) meat. There is another restaurant that we did not eat at but was generally crowded and looked good. There is also a small bar. This is a great choice if you want to stay in the Old Town - just make sure you wear shoes that are good on cobblestones, as the entire town is full of it!

Above he foundation of 13th century stones, find your own cabin in a form of Swedish museum. From its charming entrance to its myriad of collections of antique toys, boats, mannequins, and clocks, the Victory introduces you to Swedish culture in one huge gulp.

Antique carpets and seating areas make each room a comfortable sanctuary from the din of the city.

Its buffet breakfast is so beautifully laid out that I had to remind myself that we had 3 more days to savor it all - crêpes, fresh juices, fruit, cereals, breads, eggs, yoghurt... delicious.

The icing on the cake - the incredible staff - their night desk director, Mira, wrote a personalized tour for us with recommendations of what not to miss, when to get there, etc. incredibly kind.

We have traveled the world but this hotel is a little treasure - it has the stamp of a beloved family enterprise. Owned by the Bengtssons family, it feels like visiting a much loved family home.

We can only enjoy it with the most sincere thanks. David and Sue

Loved the ambiance here. The staff was amazing. We booked the wrong room and were upgraded to their apartments for a small fee each night. The apartment had everything: dishes, washer, clothes line, microwave, fridge, etc.,. The hotel is 2 minutes away from the subway, which made it convenient to get around. Loved being in the midst of the old world charm. So beautiful! Would definitely stay here again if given the opportunity.

This hotel was perfectly located in "Old Town". Away from the city square (i.e. quiet! yay!!!), but only minutes away walking. Charming and friendly. There was a cozy wine bar with a large well priced selections. Breakfast was included and was very good with many offerings. Our room was clean and full of 1 of a kind decorations and artifacts. Loved the shower and the heated towel bars. We would stay there again.

I stayed here in July 2014 with a friend and our rooms on the fifth floor were small but quite accommodating. I likened it to being in a stateroom on a yacht. Lots of charming touches throughout. Will come again definitely!

The Victory Hotel is an exquisite gem located in Gamla Stan, the Old Town near all the main tourist sites in Stockholm. From there, you can walk anywhere. I have spent 11 nights and considered it home away from home. Room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast is excellent. The staff was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful (they kept my rental bike so I could have it early in the morning for a ride). The hotel has a maritime theme which is very interesting - each room is named after a Captain. They also have an outside restaurant which is lovely and a great place to eat and socialize specially during the long summer nights. Stockholm is a lively beautiful city specially in the Summer with bright blue skies, pristine waters and long sunny days. It was a memorable trip and staying at the Victory made it even more memorable. Thank you Mats (manager) and all your staff! Hope to see you soon again!

Room Tip: if you are traveling alone, room 213 is a good choice.

I stayed at the Victory Hotel in the old town Stockholm in May this year. The staff were extremely helpful, the room was comfortable. There were no tea/coffee making facilities but the reception staff produced one whenever required so was no big deal. Was in a central part of the old town. You could walk to many of the attractions, close to the underground rail and ferry lines. I would stay there again
