My wife and I visited this restaurant during our weekend trip to Stockholm. It was my wife's birthday, and we made up our mindes to celebrate it in some authentic Stockholm restaurant, so were recommended Fem Sma Hus as a traditional Swedish restaurant. We booked a table and told the restaurant that is was to be a birthday party, so they got us a very nice table in a small niche. As the restaurant was almost full on Saturday night, I guess you'd really better book it in advance if you want to get a well-located table.
But back to food as it is what one comes here for. You can learn more about the history of the restaurant on its website. The menu is interesting (you can download it on the site as well) and offers dinner sets as well as separate dishes. My advice - don't take the set. Build you own dinner and enjoy it. I had carpaccio of elk for the starter and reindeer fillet for the main course. My wife had smoked salmon for the starter and Ann Lindberg's veal fillet for the main course. We took nice 2005 Rioja to accompany our food and it suited well. Coffee and creme brulee (one for two, I mean desert not the coffee, as we were full after such a substantial dinner) were the final touch.
Our greatest compliments to the chef! The dinner was delicious! Yes, it was expensive, but who cares about costs, if it's your wife's birthday! :) And by the way in Moscow I woudn't get that quality for the same price :). So, the restaurant is worth visiting. Thanks to the team!
p.s. If the chef is reading my lines, maybe he could forward me a recipe of that great creamy sauce that was served to my reindeer fillet on a separate sauce-plate? I would be very pleased :)
