“Absolutely lovely!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2011

One of my favorite hotels of all time - couldn't be better! Yes, it is a bit expensive, but it's absolutely worth it. The service is great, and the hotel is perfectly located. I loved the room, and the bed was wonderful! Had the most beautiful view of all times!

Breakfast was a bit disappointing, but not a big deal. The restaurant food, on the other hand, was GREAT!

Would without doubt go back - anytime!

I live in Stockholm, but have lived at Lydmar and other hotels during fall 2010 in Stockholm. Lydmar is the best hotel right now in Stockholm. This is off course a high end place and expensive, but if you look in this range in Stockholm there is no other way to go. (Grand Hotel who is the oldest five star one who also like Lydmar have a view over the castle is in need of renovation and just deliver what it should do, nothing more, today helped by Mathias Dahlgrens matsal.) Lydmar only have double rooms in three categories S M L. The beds are super comfy and the rooms a silent, so even when a party is going on at the terrace you wont hear a thing. Breakfast is served in the light dining room which is furnished as a living room with view to the water and the National Museum. Treat yourself to Lydmar next time in Stockholm! Downside - they don't have spa or gym in the house, and parking is very expensive!

Stylish and comfortable room. Nice breakfast where you order from a menu and the dining area feels like your in someones living room.

The service was great and a perfect relocation, approx 5 min walk to shopping.

My wife and I were traveling with our 1.5year old toddler and were not sure what to expect from the high end boutique hotel. After spending 5 days here and enjoying Stockholm, we were so impressed and had such an amazing time that we extended our stay another few days. The hotel staff (reception and restaurant) were incredible, they consisntently went above and beyond what they were expected to do and made us feel relaxed, well taken care of and the entire experience had the feel of a true high end boutique hotel. The room was exceptional, much much better than the grand or similar boutique hotels we have stayed at.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel wether traveling alone and want to enjoy the party scene, with a spouse or even with a small child, as it catered to all. A truly exception time, that was made possible by the excellent staff.

The Lydmar is beautifully located in the centre of Stockholm - but, as is often the case with trendy or designhotels, it has a poor service culture and does certainly not justify charging the rates the hotel is charging. The rooms can vary greatly (it might help to break their medium room category in two). They are beautifully decorated, however, beds are certainly not the best. Charging the rates the Lydmar is charging (more than the Grand Hotel next door, one would expect a high-end bed like Hästens or Duxiana - but none of that). Bed linnen also very average - great disappointment. In the summer, any rooms facing their restaurant terrace means no sleep until 1am - when they stop the extremly loud music. Loud music and noise a generally a bad habit of the Lydmar. Dinner in their restaurant is extremely noisy - not just because of the loud music but also because the restaurant is open plan, i. e. putting dirty dishes in the service lift creates extra noise levels that are truly annoying. Otherwise, the food is pleasant but nothing to write home about. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful - but a little lost, both at the restaurant and reception. So: choose your room wisely and lower your expectations. It's 5 star plus prices for 3 star service...

I've stayed at the Lydmar a number of times for business. It's a great hotel, cool and funky. The staff at the front desk are without fail helpful. My only criticism of the place is that the staff in the restaurant aren't very efficient. It always takes forever to get served there, to the point that it can be a bit embarrassing if you're hosting friends or a meeting. You're often left with unfilled glasses, waiting for someone to bother coming around to take your order and the like. It's a shame because if they could sort this out, it would truly be a great hotel.

The Lydmar hotel was a unique city centre hotel, and a great choice for my first stay in Stockholm. From the unimposing entrance you would mistake this for a hotel, again when you enter the hotel everything is stylish and fresh. The hotel room had everything you would need, the bed, lounge area and especially the shower was amazing. The hotel lounge/bar area was again comfortable and it seemed a popular place for young (with cash) locals to come and socialise at night on the weekend, in saying that it did not feel overcrowded at all - nor did the service lapse. Great hotel, great service and location!
