“Totally worth it for above the arctic circle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

Already looked good from the outside, because it's relatively new. Most buildings above the arctic circle look as if they need to be painted. Nice design stuff. Not much of a view but cozy inside. One of the few places in this northern part of Europe where you can dress up for dinner and don't look silly.
Had the reindeer. Very soft and well prepared, tasteful. Desert was some kind of chocolate truffle with jelly of yellow berries on the side. Loved it! Very friendly and service minded staff. Like one of the other reviewer said: probably the best Kiruna has to offer.

“Traditional Swedish fare”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

We set out for an evening walk in the snow and became hungry so when we came across Camp Ripan and saw the menu we decided to give it a try. Several of us opted for traditional Swedish meal including reindeer and lingonberry. The meal was cooked very well and tasted lovely but on our budget it was a relatively expensive meal - from 15 euro for main courses, especially when drinks were included.

The restaurant was very nice, a classy establishment but they accepted us dressed in snow gear & hiking boots :)

We visited in Feb 2010 not Feb 2013.

“The Best Kiruna has to Offer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

On a whole Kiruna is gravely wanting for good and varied restaurants. Camp Ripan is the one oasis in this otherwise barren restaurant landscape.

At Camp Ripan the food and service is usually of a high quality, head and shoulders above others in the area. The food is a mix of the usual French-Swedish cousin with but with regional touches such as a focus on game and local herbs and berries.

“Nice and tasty loca food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

We went to camp Ripan for dinner in a sunny evening. Obviously quite a popular place, we had to wait for half an hour for a table to be able to sit outside. There was however free tables indoor.
I had moose and chips made from blood of reindeer, it was very tasty, and staff was really service minded. The menu is quite restricted though.

“Delicious local food, very good service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and found it to be even better than we expected given that it just didnt look like a place for such a high-quality restaurant - but looks were deceiving. We had reindeer and moose for the first time, and found it to be delicious and well prepared and presented. The whole meal was extremely satisfying and enjoyed by all.

Also, I see some mention of the cost of the meal - it is true: Nothing, Nowhere is inexpensive up there, or in Scandinavia for that matter, so I don't hold it against them.
