“Awesome!”

This site, also seen on signs as Sliabh Liag, is much higher than the Cliffs of
Moher and much less visited. We were there late in the day and had the whole place almost completely to ourselves. Be sure to get some dognuts and coffee from the local vendor. He is also very knowlegeable of the area.

Well worth the walk to see some very wild, rugged and high cliffs. Very different to Mohr and not nearly as touristy. Pity there is not a regular bus to take people out to the cliffs

“Amazing Cliffs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2011

My husband and I had planned to go to the Slieve League cliffs. We were traveling with our 18 month old daughter. We had previously seen the Cliffs of Moher and although they were lovely we felt that the Slieve Leagues were amazing. I think part of it was that there were a lot less people there. We spent a few hours there and there were moments where we were completely alone. Whereas with the Cliffs of Moher there were hundreds of people roaming around with us at all times.
I will also say that you should pay attention when it is time for the car park. There is a parking lot that you will see at the base of the cliffs and I had initially thought to have my husband park there, he being more daring than I am, suggested we open the gate and drive up. Which we did and was totally fine! Apparently, you are supposed to open the gate and go up. If my hubby had not suggested that we drive through the closed gate we would have been huffing and puffing the entire way up and I am guessing I wouldn't been able to then hike to the top of the cliffs.
I should also mention that in this point in our travels I had one pair of shoes that was feeling great (although unexpected, Clarks peep toe flats); I wore these as I walked from the car park to the top of the cliffs. I am telling you all this because this is not a huge hike like some of the other places we traveled to. There was also a man who was selling drinks and snacks, which was great because we spent more time there than we had thought and our little one was hungry.
Overall, if I had to choose which cliffs we would go to again, it would be hands down Slieve League over Cliffs of Moher. You felt like you were looking at this hidden gem and that you were not part of a large bus tour. I will also say that our 18 month old stayed in a backpack the entire time; this is not a place I would let her run around on her own. It is a wonderful drive there as well through some really lovely little villages.

“Slieve League Cliffs - make a point to reach this stunning destination”

Breathtaking view of some of the tallest sea cliffs in western Europe. Even viewing it with low clouds covering the summit, it's a dramatic site. You can also walk a path along the summit (not for those like myself with queasy stomachs on heights). Wish we had made more time to take the boat trip out and see the cliffs from the ocean. It is a bit out of the way, but we were fortunate to be driven up to the top by local guides. As it was early October, we were thankful for our jackets in the strong winds.
Well worth the visit!

“worth several hours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2011

undeveloped, not touristy, portaloos are at the bottom of the hill, the walk up around the coast to the top - a must. Take your time here to refresh your soul.
